Absolutely (asked if they felt 170 was a handy score). I think after losing the toss on that kind of a slowish wicket, batting first under the sun for the first 10 overs is tough in day games. We knew they would come hard at us and I think they won the game in the powerplay. Catches win matches. They also dropped our catches and we also dropped their catches (smiles). No doubt we have to improve. Credit to RCB. Ball did come on better in the second innings. They were really good. We have been having some really good chats about improving and coming back strong. We have to leave the thoughts behind and come back positive for the next game.

Sandeep Sharma comes into the attack for the first time today. He replaces Tushar Deshpande. DROPPED! Sandeep almost got his bunny, Virat Kohli, for one more time. Virat tries to loft it over mid-off and Parag covers a lot of ground only to drop it. FOUR! Kohli rubbing salt in the wounds. Full on middle from Sandeep and Virat drives it over cover for a boundary. DROPPED! Second, dropped catch. A second chance that should have been taken. Salt hits straight back to Sandeep and he pops it out. Sloppy, very sloppy fielding from Rajasthan. Seven from this over.

Salt shuffles across to heave it at deep mid-wicket where Shimron Hetmyer make a big dive and almost gets the hold of the ball but cannot complete it. SIX! Salt shuffles across again to reach the line of the ball, and slams it over backward square leg deep into the stands for a massive six. 12 off the over.

Tushar Deshpande comes into the attack from the other end. Nice start from the right-arm pacer to give only four singles from the first five deliveries but Kohli ends the over with a cracking FOUR! Full on legs, Kohli flicks it using wrist and the ball runs at deep mid-wicket fence. 8 from this over.

Jofra to start over the wicket against Phil Salt. FOUR! Uuf, top delivery from Jofra, darts back in for Salt and takes an inside edge which runs past a diving Samson behind. All happened in the first delivery. Another inswinger hits Salt on his pads. SIX! Short ball, has enough pace on the ball which travels over fine-leg for a six with a top edge. It was good, I was trying to assess the conditions. I was trying to build a partnership so that we can score at least 170. I was trying to give the base to the other batsmen and was trying to get a good start for my team. I was enjoying there. It's a pretty good score for us, the wicket is a little bit two-paced. If we bowl well, it'll be a very good game. (Message to the bowlers) Just enjoy the bowling, enjoy the game and let's play together and just bowl into the stump.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to bowl the last over of the innings. Jurel would rue not to convert this low full toss ball for a boundary as he gets only a single. Brilliant delivery this by Bhuvi bowls a knuckle ball and all Hetmyer could get was a single. FOUR! Short this time from Bhuneshwar and Jurel latches onto it. Pulls it past deep backward square leg. OUT! Disappointing innings from Hetmyer who holes out to Padikkal. He managed 9 off 8 deliveries and failed to give a strong finish to Rajasthan. Yash Dayal to bowl the penultimate over of the innings. SIX! This is the exact start Jurel would have wanted in this over. Back of the hand slower ball from Dayal, Jurel anticipates it and lofts it over the bowler's head for a straight six. FOUR! Another slower one, pulled away nicely by Jurel, 10 off the first two balls and this has been a good start of this over. Need to make it even bigger over. Rajasthan fails to get any more boundaries and get 15 from this over.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to bowl his third over. Rajasthan should look at a 180-plus total here. Jurel pulls the short ball for a single to start the over. Bhuvi errors in line to bowl wide down the leg. Two single follow in the next two deliveries before Hetmyer punishes the low full toss for a FOUR! Bhuvneshwar bowls on offside and Hetmyer uses the width to muscle it at deep mid-wicket. Two singles in the last two balls make this a 10-run over for Rajasthan.

Suyash Sharma with his last over. Shimron Hetmyer is the new batter at number five. Jurel starts the over with a single. Hetmyer gets off the mark with a single after playing a dot. SIX! Flighted one and Jurel slogsweeps it over deep mid-wicket for a maximum. DROPPED! Jurel mishits at long-on and a fairly simple catch is dropped by Kohli. Disappointing fielding from RCB today.

Josh Hazelwood replaces Yash Dayal. SIX! What a way to start the over. Angled outside off, Jaiswal moves across and scoops it behind at fine leg. An audacious shot from Jaiswal who is adamant about accelerating here. FOUR! Make it 10 off the first two balls. Could be this over where Rajasthan look to get 20-25 off it. Thick edge at third man and should have been stopped by boundary rider Suyash Sharma. A single to follow. All Jurel could manage was a single after playing a dot. OUT! Jaiswal looks for a sweep but is in front of the wicket. LBW given and it stays the same even after Jaiswal's review. He falls for 75. End of a good knock.

Suyash Sharma back into the attack with his third over. FOUR! Tossed up delivery in the middle from Suyash, Jaiswal lofts it over cover where Krunal chases for it but fails to stop it. Three singles including one off the pads to make it a 7-run over.

Change in the attack. Pace back with Yash Dayal. OUT! Yash Dayal gets a wicket against the run of play. Back of the hand slower one outside off, almost over the wide line, lures Parag to cut it straight to Kohli at covers. He looks quite disappointed with himself as Rajasthan lose their second. Dhruv Jurel joins Jaiswal in the middle. He gets off the mark only after playing two dots. Jaiswal ends the over with a single as three runs come from it.

Krunal Panday with his last over. Jaiswal plays one to mid-wicket and reaches his half-century with this. Good innings he has build right from the start. The base is set for him to take this on. Three singles in the next three deliveries. FOUR! Ah, clever from Jaiswal. Paddles the low full toss ball fine for a boundary. CHANCE! Phil Saltttttt, what an effort! Jaiswal crunches the square of the wicket and almost clears the fence but a flying Salt almost catches it with an enormous leap in the air. He fails to keep the ball in hand but saves five runs with a fantastic effort.

After playing purely as a batsman and impact player in the first three games of the season, Sanju Samson will return as Rajasthan Royals captain for the match against Punjab Kings at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA International Stadium at Mullanpur on Saturday. Samson, who suffered a finger injury and underwent surgery, was cleared by the National Cricket Academy to play as wicket-keeper in the IPL.

“To be very honest, I was a bit surprised. I was like ‘Ho jayega teen match bahar baithna hai’ (I was thinking it will pass quickly as it’s only a matter of three games). But missing three games, I was just holding myself back and seeing the game from a different perspective. So, it was a bit of a different learning experience… to sit in the dug-out and see my brothers fighting it out there. So to be honest, I am pretty excited to be back and to be fully fit to keep wickets and to bat,” Samson said on Friday.

Despite the shambles of the batting order and his recalibrated role at the top, Sanju Samson stands as RR's highest run-scorer thus far this season. Samson had a fine run in Jaipur last year where he scored 272 runs at an average of 136 and a strike-rate of 156.32. 

It wasn't too long ago when a sandstorm and a whirlwind RCB bowling attack combined to pummel Rajasthan in Jaipur.
