(PTI Photo/Manvender Vashist Lav) Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Jitesh Sharma (49 off 27 balls) on Wednesday put on display his brutal stroke making abilities and helped his side put up a fighting total of 214 runs against Mumbai Indians (MI).
The visitors, however, made a mockery of the target and chased it down with seven balls to spare but PBKS’ assistant coach Brad Haddin was particularly happy with Jitesh Sharma’s batting.
“Once he goes out there, he’s no fear of the game. He has the unique ability to go on the attack from ball one,” he said during the post match conference.
“He’s developing nicely. He has gained a lot of confidence as the tournament is going on and that reflected in him tonight.”

“He played really well in the previous games but only faced 10 balls and tonight we wanted him to go up the order and give him the opportunity to face more balls,” he added.
Speaking on their shortcomings, Haddin said they couldn’t execute their plans well in the second of MI’s innings and that is what cost them the match.
“We didn’t execute what we needed to in the last 10 overs and allowed the Mumbai batters to get on a roll,” he said.
When asked how difficult it is to bowl against MI’s Suryakumar Yadav, Hadden said, “He hits in different areas. The way he controlled the middle part of the game was outstanding. His innings was pretty special.”
