India vs Japan Hockey Asian Champions Trophy 2018 Highlights: Defending champions India eked out a close 3-2 win over Asian Games gold medalist Japan to enter the final of the Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) hockey tournament, here on Saturday. It turned out to be a tall task for the world no. 5 Indians to get past Japan against whom they had registered a convincing 9-0 win in the league stages. Earlier in the day, two-time champions Pakistan defeated Malaysia 3-1 in the shootout after a 4-4 draw in regulation period of the first semi-final to enter Sunday’s summit clash.

It has been a compelling contest so far. Japan had all hands on deck for most of the second quarter and it took a special touch by Chinglesana to break that defence. Let's see how they respond now. India 2-1 Japan as the final quarter begins.

Gujrant gives India the lead with an excellent finish. Receives the ball in a relatively empty D but there is a defender covering him. He moves to the left and somehow finds the far corner with a perfectly placed shot.

India have been wasteful here. They have had quite a few good chances and seem to be suffering from either pulling the trigger too early, or too late.
2 mins left in Q1. Another big shot as Mandeep manages to turn in the box and take a blind shot at goal. It went wide. India had also wasted an early penalty corner. Not for the lack of the chances.
Four minutes left in Q1. India came within a chance when Gurjant was played in. The Japanese keeper made himself big and saved the shot.
India have more of the ball and made a few forays into the Japanese D but they manage to keep them out. 10 mins left in the quarter and it is still goalless.

Pakistan have beaten Malaysia 3-1 in the penalty shootout after a thriller of a match in which both sides were level at 4-4.
