India won the Women’s Asia Cup 2017 after a thrilling shootout on Sunday, beating China 5-4 in the final to clinch their second trophy in Japan. The match went to the shoot-out after it ended at 1-1 in regulation time.

Navjot Kaur had given India the lead in the second quarter through a field goal in the 25th minute before Tiantain Luo equalisied in the 47th minute. India, who had not only remained unbeaten in the entire tournament but also delivered convincing victories, took revenge for the Asian Champions Trophy last year where they went down to China 4-1 in the final.

India went into the final high with confidence after defeating defending champions Japan 4-2 in the semi-final. The team had also beaten China 4-1 in the group stages.
