I made a move up alright on the moving day at the US Open, but not as much as I would have liked to do. I moved to tied 23rd precisely 10 places above where I was at the halfway mark.
I feel like I’ve played rock solid golf the last two days with a good chance to finish in the top 10. As all Majors, the conditions get tougher as the week progresses and the course is getting firmer.
I found 13 out of 14 fairways which is complimenting the way I’m playing. For a good part of the third round, I was the only player under par and the atmosphere was electrifying. With those three birdies in a row on front nine, I was feeling great.
I bogeyed the first two holes going back to the start, but I was unlucky with the approaches. I actually hit the green and the slope took them off the green. That’s how tricky and tough the greens were. Then came the birdie on fourth. The momentum continued into the sixth, where I had my third birdie in a row. I was now in red numbers at one-under for the day and to two-over for the tournament.
On the back nine, the course got me and I also felt a little unlucky! Six inches here or there and the result would have been different.
Then it felt very good to finish off the round with a birdie on the 18th. It’s been an amazing week so far and I need that one final push on Sunday.
