Argentine footballer Sergio Aguero sustained injuries after being involved in a road accident in Holland on an off day. The Manchester City striker was reportedly in Amsterdam to watch a concert by Colombian singer Maluma when the taxi in which he was travelling to the airport skidded.

Aguero is set to miss months of play under Pep Guardiola and two World Cup qualifiers with Argentina. Missing at least 11 games, Aguero spoke to Radio Metro de Argentina and said: “The taxi driver did not see the curve and skid. And when he skidded, we hit him with the pole. I broke my rib, now I’m resting. It hurts me badly. I’ll be discharged in a little while.”

City also released a statement saying: “Sergio Aguero will be assessed by Club doctors today after being involved in a road accident on Thursday. The City forward was in Holland on his day off and has sustained injuries.”
