FIFA World Cup: Arjen Robben ‘dive’ takes Twitter by storm

After the drama in the Netherlands-Mexico contest, which saw the Dutch advance, Tweets poured.

After Netherlands dramatic win over Mexico in the pre-quarters clash on Sunday, Tweets, 9.2 million, were shared by the football crazy fans. It wasn’t just confined or dominated by a particular country, continent as the Tweets, in encouraging numbers, where showered from across the globe.


While Mexico dominated most of the game, it was during the fag end that Netherlands fired all cylinders to seal the fixture 2-1 and keep their 2014 World Cup campaign alive in Brazil. Out of the most tweeted moments, Klass-Jan Huntelaar’s penalty kick topped the charts with as many as 263, 073 tweets.


When it  comes to the most mentioned players, Netherlands Arjen Robben topped the charts. Robben, who was accused of diving in the box, helped Netherlands get a much needed spot kick in the dying moments of the game.
