Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas reacted to Gianluigi Buffon’s emotional interview announcing his retirement after Italy failed to qualify for World Cup next year and said that he hates to see the Italian like that.
In a tweet, the former Real Madrid keeper said, “I do not like to see you like that! I want to see you as before, as what you continue to be for many: a LEGEND. Proud to meet you and proud of having faced you many times. You still have to delight us in friendly football! #1”

A teary eyed Buffon said after losing to Sweden, “I’m not sorry for myself but all of Italian football. We failed at something which also means something on a social level. There’s regret at finishing like that, not because time passes. I’m leaving an Italy side that will know how to speak for itself. Hugs to everyone, especially those I’ve shared this wonderful journey with.”
Four times champions Italy failed to qualify for the first time in sixty years.
