Former India internationals WV Raman, Narendra Hirwani and TA Sekar will be the batting, spin and pace coaches at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
The NCA committee meeting that finalised these new appointments also decided to move the academy from the M Chinnaswamy Stadium premises in Bangalore within a month and also draft in talent spotters focused on Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers as well as assistants for the specialist coaches.
BCCI joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhary, after the meeting said, “NCA director Dilip Vengsarkar has been given the job of shortlisting these people.”
Dharmshala and Pune are being seen as the venues where NCA might be shifted. It is also learnt that each zone will have separate coach-cum-talent spotters for batting, spin bowling and fast bowling.
Sekar’s conflict of interest?
Meanwhile, because of BCCI’s new policy on conflict of interest, Sekar will have to make a choice between working for IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils and his new job at NCA. “Today we just appointed Sekar name. Now it’s upto him to decide whether to take it or not. Conflict of interest thing will come in his case as he is associated with one of the IPL franchise. He will have to choose now which one to take,” NCA chairman Niranjhan Shah told The Indian Express.
