Uri Attack: Indian cricket team salutes the bravehearts, says coach Anil Kumble

Anil Kumble offered condolences one behalf of the Indian cricket team for soldiers of the Indian Army.

India’s chief coach Anil Kumble offered his condolences on behalf of the the national cricket team for the soldiers of Indian Army who lost their lives on Monday during a dastardly terrorist attack in Uri, a town in Jammu and Kashmir.

18 army personnel were martyred when four heavily armed terrorists attacked the Brigade headquarters near Line of Control (LOC) at dawn.

Asked to comment on the Uri attack, Kumble said:”Yes, in terms of our support to the people who safeguard all of us, we deeply condone their death. We honout their matryrdom. It is never easy for the families. As Indian team, we salute the bravehearts. The respect from our side will always be there.”

Earlier, Virat Kohli, India Test captain, also raised his voice against the terror attack and said that images from Uri ‘fill him up with emotions he can’t explain’. He also paid his respect to the martyrs. The cricketer tweeted a picture of the attack site in Uri with smoke cover the whole site.

The four terrorists, who attacked at 4am on Sunday, were gunned down by Army personnel after a three-hour gunbattle. The Army said its initial findings suggested that the terrorists belonged to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammad and had come from across the LoC.
