Uganda cricket team players celebrating. (ICC)
On Thursday, the Uganda cricket team created history by qualifying for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. The side has beaten Rwanda by nine wickets chasing 66 runs from 20 overs. Brian Masaba’s led side chased the total in 8.1 overs to become the second team to qualify after Namibia.
The African nation will be only the fifth team to qualify for the showpiece event from the continent. Uganda has won five of the six games and finished in the second position of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa region qualifier.
