Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Unmukt Chand ton in vain as Gujarat outplay Delhi

Unmukt Chand scored a 58-ball 103 for Delhi but it was Gujarat who outplayed them to win by eight wickets.

Opener Unmukt Chand’s 58-ball 103 went in vain as Priyank Kirit Panchal’s unbeaten fifty helped Gujarat outplay Delhi by eight wickets in the Super League phase of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 Group B cricket match.

Put into bat at the Bandra Kurla Complex, Delhi lost a couple of quick wickets including skipper Gautam Gambhir for a duck only to see Unmukt and Aditya Kaushik (23) stitch a 54-run third wicket stand to help the side post a competitive 170 for five, which was later chased down by Gujarat in 17.3 overs.

Brief Scores: Delhi 170/5 in 20 overs (Unmukt Chand 103, Aditya Kaushik 23; Hardik Patel 1-27, R P Singh 1-29) lose to Gujarat 171/2 in 17.3 overs (Priyank Panchal 68 not out, Parthiv Patel 42; Parvinder Awana 1-23, S Bhati 1-43).

Tare guides Mumbai to a six-wicket win over Kerela

Aditya Tare blasted a strokeful half-century to power Mumbai to a comfortable six-wicket victory over Kerela in their  Super League Group B match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 cricket tournament.

Tare hit nine fours and one six in his 46-ball innings, while Siddesh Lad (36) and Abhishek Nayar (38) also chipped in with useful contributions as Mumbai knocked off Kerela’s score of 160-7, amassing 164-4 with five balls to spare.

Brief Score: Kerala 160/7 in 20 overs (R Prem 69; S Trivedi 3/34) Mumbai 164/4 in 19.1 overs (A Tare 71; U Manukrishnan 2/36).

Pandya blitz helps Baroda down Vidarbha by six wickets

Australia-bound Hardik Pandya enhanced his reputation as a big-hitter by smacking eight sixes in an unbeaten 86 to power Baroda to a six-wicket win over Vidarbha in the Group A cricket opener of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Super League.

The 46-ball pyrotechnics of the 22-year-old batsman, who has been picked in the Indian team for the T20 leg of the series in Australia that follows the ongoing ODI series Down Under, helped Baroda chase down their 163-run target in 19 overs at the Wankhede Stadium.

Brief scores: Vidarbha 162/5 in 20 overs (Jitesh Sharma 35, Ganesh Satish 54, Apoorv Wankhede 40; Swapnil Singh 2-41) lost to Baroda 168/4 in 19 overs (Hardik Pandya 86 not out, Irfan Pathan 26 not out; Ravi Jangid 2-36).

Samarth 64 powers easy win for Uttar Pradesh

Opener Samarth Singh struck a superb 64 to help Uttar Pradesh score an easy nine wicket win over Jharkhand in their Super League Group B match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 cricket tournament.

Singh hit four boundaries and as many as sixes in his 49-ball knock and shared 112 runs for the opening wicket with Prashant Gupta (42 not out) as Uttar Pradesh comfortably chased down the target of 134 with 3.1 overs to spare.
