It is learnt that the current Indian team sponsor,Sahara India Pariwar, was not found eligible by the BCCI marketing committee,as it is already involved in many legal cases with the Indian board.

Earlier, five companies picked up tenders floated for the Indian cricket team’s sponsorship rights. Sony,Star India,UB Group,Games Unlimited and the World Sports Group (WSG) were in fray.

While WSG is the sports marketing company that manages Sachin Tendulkar, the lesser known entity is Games Unlimited, which manages R Ashwin,Umesh Yadav and Ajinkya Rahane.

Earlier,BCCI used to invite only those bidders whose net worth was Rs 1,000 crore. But now even a company with a net worth of Rs 100 crore can bid. The BCCI will be open the tenders on December 8.
