Another day, another call for this rule change in cricket. A poor out decision from the umpire cost Bangladesh four leg byes. The ball is dead when the umpire lifts his finger so four leg byes didn't count even though replays showed clearly the umpire got it wrong.

Ottneil Baartman replaces Rabada

A huge on the job on the hands of the South Africa bowlers as they gather in a huddle. Najmul Shanto and Tanzid Hasan walk out for the chase.

Has SA's decision to bat first misfired in hindsight? Well, Bangladesh bowlers were on the mark in the Powerplay, led by Tanzim Hasan and Taskin Ahmed. They ripped off the vaunted top-order in a flash before David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen offered stern resistance. However, Bangladesh did not allow them to dominate at the death as Taskin and Rishad Hossain snapped up the crucial wickets. Bangladesh have never beaten South Africa but they have created their perfect chance to rewrite that today. But how will they come up against a menacing bowling unit?

Mustafizur to bowl the final over. Leg-cutter from Fizz and he beats Maharaj's slash. Slower ball and Maharaj misses out on the slog, dot ball. Swing and a miss, three dots! Make that four! Maharaj attempts another slog and misses out from past the off-stump. A wide to follow as Fizz darts one past the tram line. And finally Maharaj finds a single. Slower-ball and Jansen taps it down the ground for two runs.

Rishad to bowl the penultimate over. He slides one in and Jansen tucks it through square for a single. Rishad to Miller, OUT! Bowled him! Two big wickets in succession at the death for Bangladesh. Rishad bravely tosses it up and Miller completely misses out on the slog-sweep as the ball hits the middle-stump. Keshav Maharaj is the new batter. He paddles Rishad past the keeper for two runs.

David Miller b Rishad Hossain 29 (38b 1x4 1x6)

Taskin starts with a dot to Klaasen who's moved up to 44. Slower-bumper and Klaasen guides it behind square and finds two runs. Taskin to Klaasen, OUT! Cleaned him up! The ball keeps a tad low off length and Klaasen plays all around it. Marco Jansen is in at 7. He is off the blocks with an inside-edge that trickles towards fine leg.

Heinrich Klaasen b Taskin Ahmed 46 (44b 2x4 3x6)

Mahmudullah offers a wafter and Klaasen clubs it down the ground for a huge SIX. Fuller delivery and Klaasen flicks it through mid-wicket for two runs. Excellent mix of big swipes and running between the pair now.

Tanzim to bowl out

He starts with a wide down leg to Miller. The batters reel in a quick bye. Short ball and Klaasen swats it through square for a single. Slower-bumper and Miller fails to connect the pull. Fuller ball, Miller drives it to mid-off and sets off on a quick single. Direct-hit at the non-striker's but Miller makes it.

Mahmudullah continues to fire in deliveries offering minimal room. Klaasen and Miller nudge around the circle for singles. Miller unfurls the sweep behind square for one run.

Mustafizur is back

Mustafizur slides one in and Miller drills it straight back to the stumps at the non-striker's end. Three dots on the trot as Miller fails to clear the off-side fielders. Miller and Klaasen raise a 50-run partnership with a single. Mustafizur scuttles one in but Miller nails the timing on the lofted drive over mid-off for SIX!

Rishad hits length and Klaasen quickly makes room to slash through point for FOUR. A single follows. Miller works a loopy deliver through mid-wicket for two runs.

Taskin Ahmed is back

He continues to hit the deck hard and skid the ball through. Klaasen nudges one through mid-on for a single. Beaten! Miller is caught in the crease as Taskin slides one in from around the stumps and beats the outside-edge by a few inches. Shorter delivery and Miller guides it down to third for a single. Just the three runs from the over.

Mahmudullah into the attack

Was that a chance? Mahmudullah finds a thick outside-edge off Miller and Litton Das fails to hold onto it. Regulation chance there but the deflection was quite sharp for Litton to hold onto. A single to follow. Klaasen nimbly clips a short ball through square and reels in two runs.

Rishad returns

Brute power! Rishad tosses one up to the leg-stump and Klaasen swifty clears his front leg and biffs it down the ground for a huge SIX! Klaasen's on now. Rishad hangs one short and Klaasen whacks it over deep mid-wicket for another SIX! A single to follow.

Shakib Al Hasan replaces Rishad

Short and wide, Miller rocks back to cut through point for a single. Shakib cramps up the batters. Klaasen and Miller tread on singles. Five from the over.

Beaten! Mustafizur shapes one across the turf and beats Klaasen's huge swing down the ground. Fuller delivery and Klaasen smites it down through long-on for FOUR. Slower delivery outside the off-stump and Klaasen gets a thick outside-edge down to third for a single.

Rishad Hossain into the attack

In the slot from Rishad and Miller slaps the ball across between wide long-on and deep mid-wicket for FOUR. Rishad strays to the pad and Miller works it through square for a single. Sharp turn and bounce off a loopy delivery for Rishad and Klaasen leaves the delivery on length.

Here comes Mustafizur!

He pins a couple of deliveries towards the stumps and Miller taps them out. Fraction short and Miller pulls it behind square for a single. Mustafizur angles the ball in to Klaasen who nudges it towards point. Mustafizur returns to over the wicket and checks Klaasen's defence with two incoming deliveries.

Tanzim to Stubbs, OUT! There's the fourth! Short ball outside the off-stump and Stubbs tamely chips it to the cover fielder. The crowd is ecstatic as Tanzim has snapped his third wicket. David Miller is in at 6. Full and straight and Miller keeps it out with a firm block. A single to follow. Tanzim skims through another excellent over. Just one from it.

Tristan Stubbs c Shakib Al Hasan b Tanzim Hasan Sakib 0 (5b)

A snorter from Taskin! He skids one through and zips the ball just past Markram's outside-edge to the keeper. Fuller deliver and Markram flays the ball through extra cover for FOUR. Taskin tails another delivery in towards Markram and he blocks it out. Taskin to Markram, OUT! There goes the captain! Length delivery skidding through and Markram plays down the wrong line. The extra zip and pace freezes him in the crease. What a start for Bangladesh. Heinrich Klaasen is in at 5.

Aiden Markram b Taskin Ahmed 4 (8b 1x4)

Tanzim comes around the stumps and slides the ball in as de Kock attempts a cut and misses. Firm bounce there for the bowler and has seemed to be true so far. Another bouncer but it is deemed to high by the umpires and signalled a wide. Tanzim to de Kock, OUT! Knocked him over! Tanzim brings one in sharply and hits the top of off. de Kock was firm with his defense but plays along the wrong line. Tristan Stubbs is in at 4. Tanzid skids through a couple of straight deliveries, negotiated solidly by Stubbs. Brilliant from Tanzim, a wicket-maiden in the Powerplay.

Quinton de Kock b Tanzim Hasan Sakib 18 (11b 1x4 2x6)

Taskin Ahmed from the opposite end

Full outside the off-stump and de Kock digs it out to mid-off, no run. Short delivery and de Kock belts over deep square-leg for another SIX! Taskin swaps sides and offers a bit of width outside off-stump. de Kock guides it down to third for a single. Close leave on length. Taskin hits the deck and zips one past the off-stump as Markram opts for an old-fashioned leave.

Tanzim Hasan with the new ball.

Length delivery shaping inwards and de Kock taps it comfortably. In the slot and bang goes de Kock over square-leg for SIX! A superb flick from de Kock that sails comfortably over the fence. Short and de Kock swivels to swat the ball through mid-wicket for another FOUR. Tanzim shapes one in and de Kock clips it behind square for a single. Tanzim to Hendricks, OUT! Gone first ball! The ball skids through length and beats the bat, pretty plumb in front and Hendricks has to depart. The Bangladesh crowd erupts in joy.

Reeza Hendricks lbw b Tanzim Hasan Sakib 0 (1b)

Anthems done. Nearly 20,000 people packed in at the venue and the Proteas will be aiming to go hard on a deteriorating pitch. Shanto leads the talk in the Bangladesh huddle as Reeza Hendricks and Quinton de Kock walk out to bat.

Aiden Markram and Najmul Shanto lead their respective teams out to the field for the national anthems.

South Africa XI: Reeza Hendricks, Quinton de Kock(w), Aiden Markram(c), Tristan Stubbs, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ottneil Baartman

Bangladesh XI: Tanzid Hasan, Jaker Ali, Litton Das(w), Najmul Hossain Shanto(c), Towhid Hridoy, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman

TOSS: South Africa win toss, opt to bat

Aiden Markram: We'll bat first. Reason being it is a used wicket. If it does change, we can set the pace and it is tough to chase. We back ourselves for setting a good total. As a whole, the tournament has leaned towards teams batting first. It is about the last 10 overs in each innings, and chasing might be tougher. 100% need to find some form, myself included. The head space is right, hopefully a matter of time.

Najmul Shanto: I wanted to bowl, so happy to bowl first. We have one change, Soumya Sarkar not playing. We feel good to see the crowds come out here and support us. It was an important win, the boys have done a lot of hard work and hopefully we can do something special today. We have been struggling with a leggie, finally got one who takes wickets. All the bowlers have been performing really well.

Aiden Markram and Najmul Shanto are out for the coin flip.

Playing on the same surface as yesterday and it hasn't fully settled down yet. It will be better for the bowlers, they need to bowl a bit back of length, a little bit shorter than Test match length and force the batters to hit square of the wicket. Bowling those hard lengths and having people hit square towards the longer boundaries will be difficult.

Mustafizur Rahman is undoubtedly the vital cog for Bangladesh with the ball. His variations had put Sri Lanka in immense trouble in Dallas and the left-armer might be just as lethal in New York with vast square boundaries in effect.

Heinrich Klaasen has not been able to light up the tournament yet but this might just be the day where the hard-hitting batter gets back to his best. Bangladesh will invariably rely on at least a couple of spinners, including young leggie Rishad Hossain, the type of spin favoured by Klaasen.

Bangladesh ended a 17-year drought when they beat Sri Lanka on Saturday. It was their first win against a higher-ranked T20I side in the T20 World Cup since the inaugural edition in 2007 where they beat West Indies. Bangladesh will not have it easy against South Africa either, having lost all three of their previous World Cup encounters.

Shakib Al Hasan needs three wickets to become the first bowler to pick 50 T20 World Cup wickets. He also needs only four wickets to become the second man to take 150 T20I wickets.

After nearly three months of pale outings with the ball upon his return from injury, Nortje breathed fire in South Africa's opener, recording sensational figures of 4/7 in four overs. Read More on Nortje's performance
