India Test and ODI skipper Shubman Gill, who is set to make his return from injury in the upcoming T20I series vs South Africa said that he was feeling much better after undergoing extensive rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Gill had suffered a neck injury while batting in India’s 1st innings of the Kolkata Test against South Africa last month and had to retire hurt. Since then, he missed the 2nd test at Guwahati as well as the entire 3-match ODI series vs the Proteas. He has since been cleared by the CoE to take part in the T20I series, set to start from Tuesday.

“I’m feeling much better. I think the day that I came here, from that day till today, I’ve had quite a bit of skill sessions and some training sessions. So, I feel much, much better,” Gill told ‘bcci.tv’.

He also spoke about the National cricket Academy which has now been converted into the CoE. “Growing up playing under-14, under-16, you know, it used to be a thing among us where we used to be like someone has been to the NCA and come back,” he said.

“When you’re coming here, you know, you’re kind of cream of the crop. So, you know, you have the skillset to be able to reach to the next level and making use of the facility where you know that how I can go to the next level physically or how I can go to the next level mentally,” said Gill.

The batter also shared his experience on rehabbing at the CoE and outlined its facilities in the video shared by BCCI.

“For recovery and training, I think for an athlete, it can’t get any better. It’s a paradise for any athlete. You come here and you want to get physically better, you want to get mentally better, you can’t ask for better facilities. You can go to the oxygen chamber, there’s cryo there and some of the things I have used for the recovery have been pretty amazing for me. What stood out for me was that there were so many machines that I don’t know how to use. that itself tells you how big of a set up it is.”
