Owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders and Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan turned 53 on Friday (November 2) and a legion of fans thronged his house ‘Mannat’ in Mumbai. The global icon will see the trailer of his upcoming film ‘Zero’ launch on the birthday. Nicknamed ‘Badshah’ of Bollywood, SRK rang in his birthday surrounded by family as he cut the birthday cake on the eve with wife Gauri Khan and his ‘lil girl gang’. To mark the day, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh are some of the few cricketers to wish the star.

Tendulkar tweeted, “Raj and Rahul wouldn’t have been as charming if they didn’t have a little bit of SRK in them. Have a blessed year ahead, @iamsrk! #HappyBirthdaySRK” while referring to two of the most famed character names played by Shah Rukh.

Sehwag tweeted, “Wish you lots of success and happiness always, @iamsrk . I once scored a king pair against England in Birmingham, thought it was dedicated to only Aryabhatta ,now also wholeheartedly dedicate it to you :) Happy Birthday !” Sehwag had been dismissed for a duck on the first ball in both innings against England at Edgbaston in 2011.

Sharing photos from the celebration, Shah Rukh tweeted, “Fed cake to wife…Met my family of fans outside Mannat…now playing Mono Deal with my lil girl gang! Having a Happy Birthday. Thank u all…for this amazing love.”

Kolkata Knight Riders have won the IPL title twice – in 2012 and 2014 – while also competing in the Champions League T20 (CLT20) in 2011, 2012 and 2014. Shah Rukh owns 53% stake in KKR alongside Jay Mehta and Juhi Chawla as minority shareholders. In the recent IPL season, in 2018, KKR qualified for the playoffs but were beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier.
