Team India’s opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against West Indies starting from December 6 and is being replaced by Sanju Samson.
Dhawan suffered a deep cut on his left knee during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game against Maharashtra in Surat. The BCCI confirmed through a press release that the medical team has suggested Dhawan needs some more time for his stitches to come off and his wound to heal completely.
Samson has been named as Dhawan’s replacement for the T20I series. The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman was excluded from India’s T20I squad without playing a single game in the recently-concluded three-T20I series against Bangladesh. Samson being dropped had drawn sharp reactions from cricket fans and former cricketers.
