Tilak Varma scored 57 while Naman Dhir got 47 while most of the Mumbai Indians top order failed to create much of an impact, something that has been the theme of this season’s IPL. Suryakumar Yadav: We are pretty confident to bat first. Big ground, black soil wicket and runs on the board will always be pressure on the other team. We are going with the same team. We have always had a good chat around the bowling. It's harsh on the bowlers. We keep trying to improve and get better each day.
Rajat Patidar: We will bowl first. Pretty obvious, surface is good and hard. We will try and restrict them and go the chase. Conditions are not unfamiliar to be honest. Good supporters and great outfield I would say and everyone is looking forward to the game. We are going with the same team. Yes we had a couple of losses but we want to focus on ourselves than the opposition.
We are ready for the toss and the two captains are in the middle. Hardik Pandya misses out again so Suryakumar Yadav will once again be donning the captain's mantle. Rajat Patidar as usual will be representing RCB. The coin goes up and Royal Challengers Bengaluru win the toss and opt to bowl first.
The last time these two sides met was in the April 12 clash at the Wankhede with Phil Salt slamming 78 and Virat kohli and Rajat Patidar both getting half centuries as RCB posted 240/4. Chasing, Mumbai could get to 222/5, courtesy of a 71-run knock by Sherfane Rutherford.

The IPL 2026 final will be held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31. When the BCCI announced the playoffs schedule earlier, it offered only a brief explanation for dropping Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium — home of defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru — as the final venue.
“Owing to certain requirements from the local association and authorities that were beyond the scope of BCCI’s established guidelines and protocols, the venue has been shifted and reassigned,” the board’s statement read.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has now told a sports website what those requirements were.
“As per IPL protocol, we are required to provide only 15 per cent of the total seating capacity as complimentary tickets to the host association. This constitutes the standard protocol; all host state associations receive a 15 per cent allocation of their total capacity in the form of complimentary tickets,” he said.

“We had a chat with Kohli, and Kohli said, ‘how did he bowl that ball?’ because it’s not very common. Mostly for out-swing bowlers it swings in the air, after pitching the ball tends to come in because of the position of the seam or how it lands. I don’t think any bowler can bowl it at will, but if you are consistently working on your swing, it can be possible, and it was a dream ball,” Arun said of the delivery that dismissed Kohli.

Hardik Pandya did not take part in Mumbai's last match which was against the Lucknow Super Giants on May 4. India's T20 World Cup winning skipper Suryakumar Yadav had led the side on that occasion. "He’s (Hardik) not well tonight, so just going into his shoes. But yeah, the rest, everything is fine,” he had said. All eyes will now be on the RCB clash to find out if Pandya is fit enough to make his return.

The BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has flagged the presence of unauthorised persons in team dug-outs during the IPL and more transgressions that aren’t in the public domain. Based on this information, the Indian board has sent an advisory to all teams and a meeting of the CEOs of all franchises has been called this weekend to remind them of the protocol in place even as it decides on the apt action against teams and individuals who have not followed the rulebook. When Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) take the field against Mumbai Indians in Raipur on Sunday, it will mark the franchise’s first IPL game at the venue in nearly a decade. The last time RCB played here, Virat Kohli was in the middle of a season that would eventually become one of the greatest batting campaigns in the tournament’s history.
Back in May 2016, Raipur hosted a virtual knockout between RCB and the then Delhi Daredevils, who were the home side. The equation was straightforward: win and stay alive in the race for the playoffs, lose and risk watching the season slip away. RCB held their nerve that night, chasing down 139 with six wickets in hand.
Kohli top-scored with 54, but it was not one of the breathtaking innings that would come to define his 973-run season. There were no fireworks or outrageous strokeplay. On a sluggish surface where timing the ball was difficult, every run had to be worked for.
Virat Kohli is at that stage of his illustrious career where he will be raking up one all-time record after the other and it is the case when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) face Mumbai Indians (MI) in Raipur on Sunday. Kohli is just 28 runs away from becoming the first batter to have scored 1000 runs against MI.
Mumbai Indians: Ryan Rickelton(w), Rohit Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Naman Dhir, Will Jacks, Raj Bawa, Corbin Bosch, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, AM Ghazanfar, Raghu Sharma, Mayank Rawat, Robin Minz, Shardul Thakur, Trent Boult, Ashwani Kumar, Quinton de Kock, Keshav Maharaj, Sherfane Rutherford, Mayank Markande, Danish Malewar, Mohammed Salahuddin Izhar, Hardik Pandya, Krish Bhagat
Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Jacob Bethell, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar(c), Jitesh Sharma(w), Tim David, Krunal Pandya, Romario Shepherd, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma, Rasikh Salam Dar, Josh Hazlewood, Jordan Cox, Mangesh Yadav, Vicky Ostwal, Venkatesh Iyer, Jacob Duffy, Swapnil Singh, Philip Salt, Nuwan Thushara, Vihaan Malhotra, Abhinandan Singh, Kanishk Chouhan, Satvik Deswal
MI: Ryan Rickelton (wk), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, Hardik Pandya/Sherfane Rutherford, Will Jacks, Corbin Bosch, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, AM Ghazanfar, Shardul Thakur
RCB: Jacob Bethell, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (c), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Tim David, Krunal Pandya, Romario Shepherd, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma, Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam Dar
Mumbai Indians are on the brink, Royal Challengers Bengaluru are slightly on the edge. MI's squad had seemed too good to be true at the start of the season and well, they have turned out to be exactly that. A team stacked with superstars who are all having terrible seasons, with the exception of Rohit Sharma maybe but he too has been out injured for long enough for his exploits to stop mattering too much. RCB seem to have found a way to put up a good title defence but have gone slightly awry in their last two games. Stay tuned for more updates.
‘Not even sure if he’ll accept captaining the side’: Subramaniam Badrinath on Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma in action. (FILE photo)
Suryakumar Yadav and his wife were blessed with a child on May 7, fueling speculation about his availability for the game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Raipur on Sunday. Hardik Pandya also missed the previous game due to an injury. Former Indian cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath discussed the possibility of Hardik and Surya missing, addressing Rohit Sharma’s chances of leading.
“MI looks at a different side when Rohit scores runs. When Rohit gets going, it feels like everyone in MI gets energised. Also, if Hardik and Suryakumar Yadav don’t play the game, it’s not right to go back to Rohit Sharma as captain just because no one is there.
