Ranji Trophy: Swarupam Purkayastha wreaks havoc as Assam humiliate Hyderabad

Purkayastha took 13 wickets in the match as Assam humiliated Hyderabad by innings and 56 runs.

Off-spinner Swarupam Purkayastha was wrecker-in-chief with a match haul of 13 wickets as Assam humiliated Hyderabad by an innings and 56 runs on the fourth and final day of their Ranji Trophy Group C encounter.

After posting 393 in their first innings, Assam ripped through Hyderabad’s line-up twice to clinch the match with a
bonus point.

The visitors had bowled out Hyderabad for 215 in the first innings. Following on, the home team, overnight 21 for one, crumbled miserably on the final day to be bowled out for 122.

Purkayastha was the stand-out performer, picking up eight wickets in the home side’s second innings. He bowled at an awe-inspiring rate of one run an over in his 29 overs, 16 of which were maiden.

HP earn three points in a draw against Jharkhand

Pacer Rishi Dhawan took a five-wicket haul as Himachal Pradesh bundled out Jharkhand for 232 to earn a 72-run first innings lead and three points from a tame draw on the fourth and final day of their Ranji match.

Resuming on 94 for one, Jharkhand but failed to overhaul the home side’s first innings total of 304.

In second innings, HP reached 91 for six before the match ended in a draw.

Services take 1st innings lead, three points

Hardik Sethi scored an unbeaten hundred on his first class debut as Services walk away with three points by the virtue of their first innings lead against Goa in the drawn Ranji match.

Sethi scored 132 off 258 balls as Services put on board 381 in reply to Goa’s 304.
