The win, sadly, was not enough for them to enter the knock-outs though. The result also snuffled out Delhi’s hopes, while at the same time gave Odisha a smooth passage.

Meanwhile, Andhra suffered a heartbreak at Lucknow. Having drawn their final game against table-toppers Hyderabad meant they would finish third in Group C with 28 points. Haryana, after having sealed an emphatic win over Tripura at the Eden Gardens, were placed second and became the second team from Group C to progress, At Rajkot, Shreyas Iyer (123) steered the defending champions to a hard- earned draw against Punjab after being forced to follow-on. The draw also ended Punjab’s hopes .

Mumbai remained top of the group with 30 points, while Gujarat and Tamil Nadu with 26 points, finished second and third respectively. In Palam, Bengal could not force a result on the final day. The draw also ended Bengal and Madhya Pradesh’s Ranji campaign this season.
