    Bundled at stumps!

After a game of cat and mouse, Naseem Shah finally falls to Mitchell Starc. A full length ball proved too much for the youngster where the ball dropped safely in the hands of the bowler. Pakistan made a recovery from 94/ 5, but lost their last four wickets for 13 runs. That's stumps too! PAK are 240-all out after 86.2 overs.

    12:48 (IST)21 Nov 2019

It has been a comedy of errors watching Naseem Shah and Imran Khan throwing their bat around to Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc's deliveries, but the former hits a four down the ground. He moves up to 7*. PAK are 240/9 after 85 overs.

    12:34 (IST)21 Nov 2019

And now, it's time for Asad Shafiq to go, and he does after being bowled by Pat Cummins. He departs on 76 and leaves the ground to a round of applause. Cummins completes his wicket-maiden. PAK are 227/9 after 81.4 overs.

    12:31 (IST)21 Nov 2019

Shaheen Afridi comes on, breathes in the Gabba air, nicks on and gets caught behind on his first ball of the innings. Although Mitchell Starc couldn't complete his hattrick, as Naseem Shah managed to stay not-out. PAK are 227/8 after 81 overs.

    12:24 (IST)21 Nov 2019

What a cracker! Mitchell Starc just puts a bitter taste in every Pakistan fan's mouth, as he breaks the 84-run partnership by clean bowling Yasir Shah out for 26. The party of singles comes to an end. PAK are 227/7 after 80.4 overs.

    Two hundred up for PAK

Cutting through the mundane and beating the odds, Pakistan have made it over the two hundred runs mark off a single from Marnus Labuschagne's ball. While Shafiq's on 55*, Yasir's on 21. PAK are 201/6 after 75 overs.

    11:58 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Shafiq gets his fifty!

Asad Shafiq brings up his half-century with a single off Nathan Lyon in his 99th ball. Four boundaries and a lot of steel in that innings. His last five innings in 2019 have been  88, 20, 65, 0, 50*. PAK are 195/6 after 72 overs.

    11:31 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    The Shafiq-Yasir show continues

With runs coming at a steady rate, like three runs per over, Pakistan have somewhat stabilised themselves after their implosion in the second innings. Shafiq is nearing his half-century as he is on 39 off 81 balls. PAK are 179/6 after 65 overs.

    11:12 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Shafiq inspires PAK

Asad Shafiq, batting on 29*, is playing the role of a cornerstone now, hoping to inspire Yasir Shah on the other end with his resilience now. They have formed a 19-run partnership already, with Yasir Shah on 8*. PAK are 162/6 after 60 overs.

    10:47 (IST)21 Nov 2019

After hitting six boundaries from his last 13 balls, Mohammed Rizwan is finally dismissed as Pat Cummins forces him to get caught behind with an edge. He departs after a brilliant 37 from just 34 balls. Although, the decision does look bit contentious with a no-ball call not far away. PAK are 143/6 after 54.2 overs.

    10:37 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Rizwan on fire

Pat Cummins restarts the onslaught, but Pakistan have a surprise in store for him. Picking up from where he left off, Mohammed Rizwan (32*) takes his boundary count upto five, with two consecutive fours from the opening two balls. And there's another one! A massive 12 runs from the over. PAK are 138/5 after 53 overs.

    10:14 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Tea break!

After three boundaries in just two overs, Mohammed Rizwan (19*) looks to have brought his mojo on to the crease and is looking to form a partnership with Asad Shafiq (18*). After a maiden over, it's time for tea now. All in all, a brilliant second session for the hosts. PAK are 125/5 after 52 overs.

    09:56 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Hundred up for PAK

Asad Shafiq rallies on with all his experience, and hits Mitchell Starc for a four through mid-off. A single and a two from Mohammed Rizwan on the other side, which brings up the ton for the team. PAK are 101/5 after 47 overs.

    09:51 (IST)21 Nov 2019

Iftikhar Ahmed departs for just 7, as he falls the spin wizardry of Nathan Lyon. The spinner strikes with the first ball of his spell, as Marnus Labuschagne helps him with a catch. PAK are 94/5 after 45.1 overs.

    09:18 (IST)21 Nov 2019

Pakistan are self-imploding here, with Babar Azam becoming the latest one to go. Josh Hazlewood's ball, and Pakistan's best batsman goes for a reckless shot and edges it to the slip to Joe Burns. He leaves for just 1. PAK are 78/4 after 39.2 overs.

    09:10 (IST)21 Nov 2019

Taken and gone! Haris Sohail nicks a Mitchell Starc delivery right to Tim Paine, and he is caught behind. Pakistan are on the backfoot and they look in some trouble now. He departs for just 1. PAK are 77/3 after 38.3 overs.

    08:55 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Record breaking?

Pakistan's opening partnership lasted 33 overs - making it their longest opening partnership in the first innings of an away Test in the 21st century, surpassing Farhat and Butt vs New Zealand in Wellington in 2009.

    08:46 (IST)21 Nov 2019

And it all comes crashing down for Pakistan, as Josh Hazlewood dismisses Azhar Ali. Taken by Joe Burns. The captain leaves after a brave 39. Haris Sohail and Asad Shafiq at the crease now. PAK are 75/2 after 33.2 overs.

    08:43 (IST)21 Nov 2019

After a fortuitous four and putting the highest opening partnership for Pakistan at the Gabba, Shan Masood falls. At the hands of Pat Cummins with a little help from Steve Smith. The batsman departs for 27. PAK are 75/1 after 33 overs.

    08:27 (IST)21 Nov 2019

With a near old fashioned approach, both the openers are still at it. An Azhar Ali boundary off Pat Cummins, and then another one edged to Josh Hazlewood. The Australian bowlers have nothing to reply. PAK are 67/0 after 30 overs.

    08:15 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Second session begins

First ball of the second session, and Josh Hazlewood has a shout for LBW against Azhar Ali. Nothing given, just a leg-bye. Just the one run from the over. PAK are 58/0 after 28 overs.

    07:40 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Stat attack!

For the first time ever, Australia have failed to take a wicket in the first session of a Gabba Test match when bowling first.

    Perfect start for PAK

    Time for some lunch!

And after two hours, it's time for some lunch now. While the Australian bowlers have been well disciplined so far, they haven't reaped any rewards as of yet. Pakistan batting slowly but are holding up well in tough conditions, something they are certainly not used to. PAK are 57/0 after 27 overs.

    07:30 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Fifty up for PAK

Two boundaries for Pakistan, off Shan Masood and Azhar Ali's bat to Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood respectively. While Azhar's on 28*, Masood's 17*, with the former hitting three fours compared to the latter's two. PAK are 53/0 after 26 overs.

    Azhar with the response

After Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon continued with their attacks and maidens, Josh Hazlewood comes back to unnerve the Pakistan batsmen. But Azhar Ali has the perfect response after scoring just a single off the last 21 deliveries. He hits a fantastic four to mid-off with some lovely footwork. PAK are 43/0 after 20 overs.

    PAK quite composed

Apart from an Azhar Ali boundary in the eighth over against Josh Hazlewood, Pakistan haven't had much luck with the fours and sixes, but they have started well here. Azhar's on 18*, while Masood's on 8*. PAK are 33/0 after 13 overs.

    06:29 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Slow and steady

Nothing much happening on the pitch now, with both the openers being patient looking for their opportunity here. No Australian bowler have even come close to threaten the opening pair though. PAK are 13/0 after 5 overs.

    06:28 (IST)21 Nov 2019
    Azhar, Masood open for PAK

Mitchell Starc starts the proceedings for Australia, while the captain Azhar Ali opens with Shan Masood. Interestingly, Azhar has an average of 81.2 in the last Test series Down Under, scoring 406 runs in six innings. Just one leg-bye off the first over.
