Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah will miss the remainder of the Asia Cup through injury, an ICC release quoting the Pakistan Cricket Board revealed on Wednesday.
Shah had injured his right shoulder during Pakistan’s Super 4 match against India on Monday. He is being monitored by the team’s medical panel which is taking all the necessary precautions with the upcoming ODI World Cup in mind.
Zaman Khan a right-hand pacer who has represented Pakistan in the T20I format is set to replace Naseem in the squad. Zaman has played 6 T20Is for Pakistan and has scalped four wickets at an average of 32.5, with an economy of 6.66.
In another update, Haris Rauf who was pulled out of the India match on the reserve day due to experiencing discomfort in his right flank on the first day of the match, was being monitored by the medical team as well. He, however, is recovering well, according to the PCB update.
Meanwhile on Thursday, Pakistan will have the tough task of taming a high-spirited Sri Lanka when they lock horns in a Super 4 match for a place in the Asia Cup final.
Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka have two points and the winner of the virtual knock-out game will progress to the final on September 17.
India have already secured a place in the summit clash after they defeated Sri Lanka by 41 runs in a Super Four game on Tuesday. Rohit Sharma’s men lead the table with four points.
