West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will watch India’s first-ever Day/Night Test together after ringing the customary Eden Bell to start the proceedings on November 22.
Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Secretary Avishek Dalmiya along with other CAB officials held a meeting with Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Toufique Hasan and his four-member team.
The delegation from Bangladesh did a recce of the Eden Gardens on Tuesday and examined the seating arrangements for the Prime Minister and her contingent who will grace the occasion.
“It’s a historic event and we will try to make it special and memorable in every way possible. After almost two decades India-Bangladesh test match is going to be played here. We are making sure that everything is arranged well for the Bangladesh Prime Minister,” said the CAB Secretary.
The agenda of the meeting was to oversee the preparations and exchange ideas to make it a classy affair when Sheikh Hasina visits the Eden Gardens to watch the first day of the second test between India and Bangladesh.
On day one of the first Test, Sheikh Hasina, and Mamata Banerjee will ring the Eden Bell together.
Mamata Banerjee and Sheikh Hasina will be seated in the President’s box at BC Roy Club House. As per the schedule, Hasina will be on a one-day visit and she will watch the match for sometime in the first session.
“Following the first day’s play the players who played the first Test between India and Bangladesh will be felicitated followed by speeches given by the hon’ble dignitaries,” the CAB Secretary added.
In the break, there are plans for a chat show featuring the fabulous five Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, and VVS Laxman. There will also be a felicitation of some breast cancer survivors.
