SRH strengthened their hold at the top of the IPL with a 7-wicket win over KXIP in Mohali. And with the loss, KXIP are out of contention for the playoffs. Hashim Amla put 96 for KXIP to take them to 179 but it wasn’t enough. David Warner, David Hooda and Yuvraj Singh all scored for SRH to take them over the line.

AS IT HAPPENED:

1938 hrs IST: With the loss, KXIP are out of IPL.

1934 hrs IST: Cutting finishes things off with a boundary. SRH win by 7 wickets

1933 hrs IST: SRH need 1 from 3.

1930 hrs IST: And Yuvraj launches it and it is gone way back into the stands for a SIX!

1919 hrs IST: Ben Cutting gets into the thick of the action as well. Slower one by Mohit Sharma and Cutting swings it for a SIX!

1917 hrs IST: Yuvraj sends it long and it is into the stands for a huge six!

1911 hrs IST: Hooda pulls and is taken by Miller. Sandeep Sharma strikes. SRH are 139/3, need 41 from 24.

1908 hrs IST: SIX! Yuvraj sends it high and sends it out of the park. 42 needed from 26.

1905 hrs IST: An unconventional pull by Hooda to bring up a boundary to close the over. SRH need 50 from 30 balls. Who’ll win?

1903 hrs IST: Slower delivery by Stoinis and Hooda tries to play it down the leg side, takes a top edge and goes into the third man region for a four.

1859 hrs IST: SRH need 60 from 34 balls.

1856 hrs IST: Sweet, sweet strike by Yuvraj! Moves across slightly away from the stumps and he drives it calmly off the middle of the bat for a four.

1851 hrs IST: HIT WICKET! Warner goes on the backfoot and clips the stumps as he does so. We’ve seen multiple instances of hit-wicket by SRH batsmen this IPL – Yuvraj Singh, Deepak Hooda and now David Warner!

1849 hrs IST: Hooda strikes it extremely sweetly and it races off to the ropes for a boundary.

1842 hrs IST: FIFTY FOR WARNER! 50 from 38 balls – his sixth fifty in the IPL.

1838 hrs IST: At the end of 10 overs, SRH are 78/1. Need 102 from 60 balls.

1818 hrs IST: Shikhar brings up the fifty for SRH with a sweep four.

1815 hrs IST: SIX! Warner hits it one handed into the stands for a maximum!

1809 hrs IST: Dhawan dances down the track to Anureet. Little space to play his shot but does just about enough to clear the infield and find the open space for a four.

1807 hrs IST: Warner has slowed down considerably now. Not ticking the scoreboard with boundaries anymore but with singles.

1755 hrs IST: Warner starting in the manner he loves to – with multiple boundaries.

1753 hrs IST: The chase begins. Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner to open things. Sandeep Sharma with the ball.

1732 hrs IST: SIX! Miller ends things for KXIP with a maximum and that’s gone 15 rows into the stands. KXIP close on 179/4.

1729 hrs IST: GONE! Amla tries to over the top but gets taken by Warner at long off. Possibly his first and only mistake in the knock. Departs for 96 from 56 balls.

1729 hrs IST: Swing and a miss. Amla stays on 96. KXIP on 173.

1728 hrs IST: Single from the second ball. Strike back to Amla.

1728 hrs IST: Bhuvneshwar bowls it wide and Miller smacks it straight down for a boundary.

1726 hrs IST: One over to go, KXIP are 168/3 and Amla on 96. Miller will be on strike though.

1725 hrs IST: Full length by Mustafizur and Miller smacks it for a boundary. Just bounces in front of the ropes.

1723 hrs IST: Vijay Shankar again tries a low diving catch, this time with Miller on the strike, and again can’t hold on.

1722 hrs IST: KXIP are 160/3 with two overs remaining.

1721 hrs IST: Again goes into the same region but the diving forward fielder can only attempt that on the bounce.

1720 hrs IST: Four! Amla goes after the longest boundary and just misses on converting that into a six.

1717 hrs IST: BOWLED! Gurkeerat goes for a huge hit but misses and Bhuvneshwar strikes. KXIP are 152/3. Well disguised slow leg cutter by Bhuvneshwar.

1713 hrs IST: Amla reading the line and length beautifully. Be it full length, short or full toss, Amla has hit them all for boundaries. Three fours in the over and Amla is on 89 from 49.

1711 hrs IST: Amla adding some big runs to the total. Makes room for himself and smacks Henriques for a SIX!

1705 hrs IST: Concern for SRH. Nehra is off the field with a suspected leg injury.

1649 hrs IST: Gurkeerat Mann comes into the middle and not Glenn Maxwell.

1647 hrs IST: GONE! Saha tries to play it into the on-side field but he gets a top edge and Hooda takes it with ease. Henriques strikes. KXIP are 87/2. Saha exits after putting in 27 from 23 balls.

1644 hrs IST: FIFTY FOR AMLA! 50 from 33 balls with seven fours and one six

1643 hrs IST: Wriddhiman Saha into the act now. Goes inside-out and gets another boundary. KXIP are 77/1 after 10 overs.

1642 hrs IST: Amla creates room for himself on a Yuvraj delivery which pitches on middle and off. Superbly drives it into the covers for a four.

1633 hrs  IST: Amla in pulsating form at the moment. He’s raced off to 41 runs from 24 balls.

1626 hrs IST: KXIP are 47/1 after the Powerplay overs.

1623 hrs IST: Ben Cutting has the ball as well. And he nearly strikes off the first delivery. Lucky for Saha that his inside edge doesn’t find the stumps.

1621 hrs IST: 50th wicket for Mustafizur.

1618 hrs IST: GONE! Murali Vijay chips it straight to David Warner and Mustafizur strikes on the second delivery! KXIP are 33/1.

1617 hrs IST: Change in bowling for SRH: Mustafizur Rahman comes on.

1612 hrs IST: SIX! Amla’s onslaught on Nehra continues and gets upped this time around. The South African goes straight back down the ground to clear the ropes.

1608 hrs IST: And Amla rounds off the over with yet another boundary – three in the over. KXIP are 19/0 after 2.

1605 hrs IST: Ashish Nehra from the other end. And Amla has dispatched ‘Nehra Ji’ for two back-to-back fours. Poor line on the second – something you don’t normally expect from him.

1604 hrs IST: KXIP are 7/0 after the first over.

1601 hrs IST: Second ball and Amla goes on the back foot to slash it for a four. Poor fielding though.

1600 hrs IST: Hashim Amla and Murali Vijay to open things for KXIP. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the ball.

1550 hrs IST: TEAMS:

1540 hrs IST: CHANGES:

SRH: Cutting and Karn in for Williamson and Sran

KXIP: Anureet in for Cariappa

1530 hrs IST: TOSS: Kings XI Punjab win the toss and elect to bat first.

A win out of remaining three games will be enough for Sunrisers Hyderabad to secure a play-off berth, but the table-toppers’ coach Tom Moody on Saturday cautioned against complacency against a struggling Kings XI Punjab in a IPL T20 clash in Mohali on Sunday.

# Mumbai second best at their second home

Mumbai Indians top-order fizzles, thanks to poor shot selection. Marcus Stoinis returns with career-best T20 figures before some common sense batting from Murali Vijay and Wriddhiman Saha sees Kings XI Punjab through.
