KKR needed a win to qualify for the playoffs and they made sure they got there. Batting first, started quickly through Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir. Yusuf Pathan and Manish Pandey provided fodder in the middle. In response, only Shikhar Dhawan was in touch for SRH as they fell short to quick wickets.

1926 hrs IST: And it’s all over. KKR win by 22 runs and qualify for the playoffs.

1922 hrs IST: Bhuvneshwar gets good connection with the ball but hits it straight to Sathish at long off. Ankit Rajpoot has his first wicket.

1921 hrs IST: SRH need 28 from 6 balls.

1920 hrs IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar goes inside out and gets a four. But SRH need sixes, fours won’t do at this stage.

1914 hrs IST: Last ball for Narine, Henriques comes down the track and misses it completely. Has the leg stump toppled. SRH are 136/7 now. 36 needed from 12 now.

1912 hrs IST: SRG need 43 from 17. Tough, tough task!

1909 hrs IST: The math is tough but MI are now out of contention for the playoffs.

1905 hrs IST: Kuldeep spins it and it stays low, Williamson pulls and hands a catch to Yadav on the ropes. Spun more than he probably expected. SRH are 117/6

1900 hrs IST: UH OH! Williamson stays stuck after one while Hooda runs for the second. The throw is at the right end and it is curtains for Hooda. And maybe for SRH now.

1856 hrs IST: Yuvraj tries to add another six to his list but is taken by Sathish in the deep. Big wicket for KKR at this stage

1855 hrs IST: Add another six to the mix. This time he’s gone over cover for a big one.

1853 hrs IST: Yuvi has danced down the track and plays it sweetly straight down for a six.

1846 hrs IST: Naman Ojha plays against the turn and top edges it with Uthappa taking the catch. Another needless shot by an SRH batsman.

1843 hrs IST: He was going so nicely and brings it to an end with a poor shot straight to Colin Munro. Kuldeep rejoices. SRH are 86/2.

1840 hrs IST: FIFTY FOR DHAWAN! 50 from just 28 balls. Four fours and three sixes. Brings it up with almost a repeat of his four from this over. Poor line by Shakib though. After 11, SRH are 85/1.

1838 hrs IST: Smartly done by Dhawan. Shakib spins it down the leg side and Dhawan helps it along for a four.  Reading the ball very well there.

1830 hrs IST: Lovely timing by Shikhar to pick it up on the pads and flick it for a SIX!

1819 hrs IST: Even stevens! SRH are 48/1 after the Powerplay overs – KKR had the same score at this stage.

1815 hrs IST: Dhawan sweeps and he sweeps it exceptionally to send the ball sailing into the stands for a SIX!

1814 hrs IST: First it was Dhawan and now it is Ojha to dispatch Ankit Rajpoot for a boundary. Nice drive by Ojha there.

1810 hrs IST: Warner departs! Sunil Narine has the big wicket. SRH lose their first as Warner exits for 18.

1756 hrs IST: David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan are in the middle.

1741 hrs IST: KKR finish on 171/6. Yusuf Pathan stays unbeaten on 52

1736 hrs IST: Last over to be bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Shakib tries to whack it but gets an edge and keeper Naman Ojha takes the catch. KKR 164/6

1735 hrs IST: Superb penultimate over for SRH. Just three given away by Mustafizur.

1729 hrs IST: FIFTY FOR PATHAN! Another smart knock by Yusuf to go after the big shots only when possible and keeping level head after seeing wickets tumble. 50 from 30 balls.

1722 hrs IST: GONE! Jason Holder departs early with Mustafizur picking his first wicket. KKR down to 153/5.

1715 hrs IST: Manish Pandey goes back! Bhuvneshwar Kumar picks up the wicket to bring to an end an 87-run stand.

1704 hrs IST: Next ball, another six. This one is flatter but the result is the same. Karn Sharma getting belted here.

1703 hrs IST: SIX! Yusuf Pathan hits it cleanly and it goes 102 metres! MASSIVE HIT!

1658 hrs IST: Big outside edge for Yusuf Pathan and another four off the over and brings up the fifty partnership.

1656 hrs IST: And Manish Pandey cuts it fine to bring up the 100 for KKR with a boundary.

1655 hrs IST: KKR have regained control since. They’re now 97/3 after 12. Decent run rate too.

1632 hrs IST: Gambhir tries to chip over the fielder but Henriques takes it comfortably. Woes compound for KKR – 57/3

1625 hrs IST: Poor shot selection by Colin Munro as Deepak Hooda strikes. Top edges it, goes high and keeper Naman Ojha is underneath it to complete the dismissal. KKR are 48/2 .

1613 hrs IST: WICKET! Kolkata lose Robin Uthappa, Barinder Sran provides major break-through

1610 hrs IST: KKR reach 28 in 3 overs. Robin Uthappa 25*, Gautam Gambhir 3*

1535 hrs IST: TEAMS:

1530 hrs IST: TOSS: SRH have won the toss and they’re bowling first.

The covers came off around 4pm on Saturday, and the Eden Gardens pitch looked pretty damp. It had been raining in Kolkata for the last two days and the whole ground was under wraps. Humidity has affected the top soil and according to ground staff, a couple of hours of unbroken sunshine on Sunday could be the only solution for a bone dry surface.
