Sunrisers Hyderabad have swapped Shikhar Dhawan with Delhi Daredevils in favour of three players – Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem and Abhishek Sharma. The official confirmation came on Monday (November 5) after weeks of speculation over the southpaw being unhappy at SRH.

The move back to Delhi is a homecoming for the left-hander who is not only a Delhiite, but also began his IPL career for the Delhi franchise in the inaugural IPL season in 2008. He had been with Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2013, becoming the team’s top-scorer with a tally of 2768 runs from 91 innings.

Going into the IPL 2018 auction, Sunrisers had chosen to retain David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar but paid Rs 5.2 crore to eventually buy Dhawan back using the Right to Match (RTM) card. SRH confirmed that the left-handed batsman was unhappy with the price tag. Subsequently, Dhawan was rumoured to be joining Mumbai Indians to partner Rohit Sharma with another report suggesting a trade with Kings XI Punjab.
