After Faf du Plessis and Andre Russell, the upcoming edition of the IPL will also miss the Big Show Glenn Maxwell. The Australian all-rounder said he has decided against putting his name in the auction list, but remained hopeful that he could return in the future.

Maxwell, who was part of Punjab Kings team last year, was released into the auction pool as his performances with the bat weren’t up to the mark. A very integral member of Australia white-ball squad, Maxwell has struggled for consistency when it comes to the IPL. Last season in the seven matches he played, he scored only 48 runs. Despite an underwhelming season, Maxwell remained part of discussions among franchises, but the player himself has withdrawn from the auction.

“After many unforgettable seasons in the IPL, I’ve decided not to put my name into auction this year. It’s a big call, and one I make with a lot of gratitude for everything this league has given me. The IPL has helped me shape as cricketer and as a person. I’ve been lucky to play with world-class teammates, represent incredible franchises, and perform in front of fans whose passion is unmatched. The memories, the challenges and the energy of India will stay with me forever. Thank you for all your support over the years, hopefully see you soon,” Maxwell posted on his Instagram handle.
