In the most surprising bid of the IPL auction in Bengaluru on Saturday, Delhi Daredevils spent Rs 4.2 crores for Carlos Brathwaite.

LIST: Players sold in the auctions

The West Indies’ player might not have thought he would get such a huge amount in the auction and that too in his first auction.

The bidding began with DD going for the player. But KKR were not behind and jumped into the bidding. From his base price of Rs 30 lakhs, Brathwaite’s price rose quickly past the Rs 1 crore mark.

It didn’t stop here. DD and KKR went onto continue the bid but since DD had a larger purse, KKR had to discuss a lot. Finally, KKR pulled out of the bid and Carlos remained with DD.

Of course, like other, Brathwaite was also surprised. He thanked DD on Twitter and tweeted his dibelief.
