IPL 2025 Retention: Rishabh Pant wondered on social media recently if he entered the IPL auction, what would he go for? We will soon find out as he was released by Delhi Capitals. It will be a safe bet to say he will be the most expensive buy.

The big Diwali bonuses were earmarked for rising Indian stars Rinku Singh (KKR), Dhruv Jurel (RR), Abhishek Sharma and Mayank Yadav (LSG) who were retained for more than Rs 10 crore.

After their dismal 2024 season, Mumbai Indians retained their big names but it was Jasprit Bumrah who got the top billing at Rs 18 crore, whereas the MI franchise has decided to keep Hardik Pandya as the captain.

Virat Kohli was the most expensive Indian retention at Rs 21 crore with RCB deciding to go with a heavy purse into the auction.

With just two uncapped players retained, Punjab Kings – with Ricky Ponting on board – will go into the IPL 2025 auction with the biggest purse: a whopping Rs 110.5 cr. Whether they finally get a rebuild right, however, remains to be seen.
