India vs West Indies Women’s 3rd T20I Highlights: IND crush WI by 60 runs for first home series win in 5 years; Mandhana, Richa, Radha shine

Richa Ghosh: We got a good start today. The way Mandhana played, I just continued to do that. I play in the same way in the nets. I like to hit the ball when it it is in the slot. Feels good as all of us contributed in the team's victory.

Hayley: We probably didn't bowl well. Was one of the wickets where there was very small margin for error. Kudos to the way Mandhana and Ghosh batted. We spoke about coming out with a lot of energy. They got going quickly, we couldn't bounce back after that. We need to be disciplined. Some players have let us down.

Thakor: This is a very good bunch to play alongside and the vibe is very good. We did the execution part well and I am happy I could execute well for the team. We had that belief that we are going to defend this target. The dew factor, we did not think about it much and tried to execute what we had planned. I have been practising that (back-of-the-hand slower ball) and was thinking if I should bowl it or not. It was required on these wickets and it really helped me. (On dew) It was comparatively lesser and that really helped us.

Last over of the night. Deepti skims through the over and India record their first T20I series win at home in five years!That's been quite the wait and it comes in the absence of their regular captain, Harmanpreet Kaur. Stellar all-round performance here from India, with stand-in skipper Smriti Mandhana showing a lot of intent after braving the first few deliveries. Mandhana's 77 set the base for a fine second-half and Richa Ghosh ensured it with a rollicking fifty, taking India to their highest T20I total. 

The chase is out of their hands as Thakor aims to finish a forgettable night with the final wicket. She rolls in a slew of slower balls as it deceives Ramharack and the stumps on a couple of occasions. 

No. 3 for Radha! Another tempting delivery lands on length and Gajnabi's swing through the line nearly crosses the fence before Sajana makes an excellent interception just over the fence. Has she got another one here? Radha tosses another one up and Zaida James seems to have nicked it while attempting to drive. Ghosh pounces on the ball and asks her skipper to go for a review. Mandhana deliberates for a few moments before going up and there's indeed a spike on replays. Zaida has to go as Radha Yadav finishes with 4/29 in four overs!

Shabika Gajnabi c Sajana b Yadav 3 (5b)

Radha to Alleyne, OUT! Hits timber and the wickets continue to tumble. Alleyne makes some room to go aerial over cover but ends up sharing too much room for Radha to send one skidding through to the off-stump. Mix-up, mix-up and Crafton is run out! Crafton taps the ball towards cover and a diving Thakor makes an immediate recovery to send the ball flat back to Ghosh who nicks the bails off in a flash. West Indies have lost the plot quickly here.

Renuka to Henry, OUT! Chinelle falls this time. Length delivery ouside off and Henry's thick slash straight back to short-third. Missing out on one of the fastest fifties, Henry falls on 43 off 16 deliveries.

Henry continues to tonk the ball down the ground, lifting Deepti's length delivery for another crunching FOUR. Deepti darts the ball into the stumps but Henry charges to pump it over wide long-on for SIX! SIX more to finish the over. A rank full-toss from around the stumps and Henry wasn't going to miss out on one. WI 123/6 in 14 overs

Deepti Sharma to Campbelle, OUT! Another bowler with a first-ball scalp. Deepti keeps it flat onto the body and Campbelle attempts to crouch and swat across the line but finds Mandhana in her way at mid-wicket. Nerissa Crafton is in next. Deepti slows down considerably and deceives Crafton completely in the air, turning past the outside-edge on three consecutive deliveries. A slip comes in and guess what - Crafton nicks one and it flies over Jemimah at first slip next ball!

Shemaine Campbelle c Mandhana b Sharma 17 (11b 1x4 1x6)

Campbelle and Henry have launched a brutal frenzy of boundaries here. Titas has not done enough to mask the width she's been offering outside off-stump and Campbelle flays it through extra cover for FOUR. Fuller this time and Campbelle taps it towards point and sets off on a single but a sharp pick-up and throw from Deepti sends her back. A casual strut back to the pitch from Campbelle as Ghosh flicks the bails and appeals for a run-out. Interesting query there and it goes up to the TV umpire. A few referrals later he concludes that there's some wood inside the crease in the nick of time. Could have turned comical there for WI.

Shinelle Henry is here to use that mighty swing and he immediately clobbers Radha for two huge SIXes to put the chase back on course. At the half-way mark, WI need 134 in the remaining 10 overs. WI 84/3

Deandra Dottin aims to clear Titas with a slap to the deep but it flies straight into a sliding Radha's palms. Massive blow for WI as the crowd erupts in joy. But there's a quick reminder that the chase is far from done as Campbell flicks Sadhu over square for SIX!

Radha Yadav strikes first ball! A delayed, darted release from Radha and Hayley mistimes the slog to Sajana at long-off. She is pumped after having spilt a few this series. That's a massive wicket there in the chase. Shemaine Campbell is in at 4.

Seems like Saima is still reeling from that dropped catch of her bowling and Dottin's rubbing the salt as she crunches two FOURs to keep the chase well and truly alive. An excellent comeback delivery from Thakor, cuttin on pace by nearly 40kphs to see Dottin nearly cede her off-stump. Thakor is in disbelief. 'How could that miss the off-stump!' WI 57/1 in 7 overs

Titas Sadhu into the attack

Sadhu maintains her line outside the off-stump and Dottin manufactures a FOUR with a shuffle-paddle over square leg for FOUR. In the slot and Dottin butchers it, pumping over mid-off, for FOUR more. WI finish the PP on 46/1.

Saima Thakor replaces Renuka

DROPPED! Renuka puts down a sitter at fine leg as Thakor forces Dottin into a miscued hook. The ball dipped quickly on Renuka perhaps as she is struck on the knee. She winces in pain and gets some treatment from the physio past the boundary line. In the air again and Matthews chips the ball just over Bist at mid-on. Short from Saima and Matthews pulls the ball through square but Radha Yadav's admirable dash saves two runs! Slower-one on length and Hayley dances down to lift it over long-on for SIX! WI 34/1 in 5 overs

Matthews decides against the packed half-ring on the off-side and quickly shuffles across to hack Sajana through mid-wicket for FOUR. Sajana strays to the leg and Joseph pumps it from her sight in a flash, SIX! Better this time and Sajana sends Qiana on her way! OUT. Another loopy delivery but she darts it slightly across and Qiana ends up scooping it to the short-fine fielder. There's the breakthrough for India as Deandra Dottin walks in at 3.

Spin from the opposite end with Sajana coming into the attack. Interesting. There's the tempter and the move nearly works! Qiana Joseph miscues the loopy delivery and sends it straight up but Mandhana fails to even get a hand on the ball as it dips on her at mid-off.  Poor effort from the captain there and India have burnt a chance. Sajana keeps it tight and follows up with three dots. WI 4/0 in 2 overs

A massive 218-run chase awaits WI! Hayley Mathews and Qiana Joseph are in the middle. A packed off-side ring for Renuka Singh Thakur.

Width for Matthews as she drives the first ball through covers but an excellent stop denies her an opening. Three deliveries in and Richa Ghosh stands up to the stumps. Thakur drops short and Matthews drags the ball through square for a single. In the air! Joseph makes room to plunder the leg-side but the extra bounce from length clips the shoulder of the bat and lobs up towards short third, falling a few yards short! WI 1/0 in 1 over

India splash a horde of records as they bring their best out in the series decider. Here's a recap:

Another six over mid-wicket and Richa Ghosh brings up the joint-fastest T20I fifty in only 18 balls! A couple of singles to follow and Richa holes out to long-on in her attempt to smack another six. A match-defining 21-ball 54 from Richa there, finishing with a 257.14 SR. Sajana Sajeevan drills the last ball for FOUR down the ground and India set their highest-ever WT20I total at 217/4!

Bang! Richa smokes Hayley out of the park with a cracking slog-sweep for SIX! Hayley goes shorter onto the pads and a fantastic swivel pulls sails over the boundary for SIX more! 200 up for India. 16 runs from the over. Highest WT20I total for India and only the second time they have crossed 200.

Oh, Ghosh! Alleyne drops short and a solid Richa wallops it over square-leg for a massive SIX! A couple of singles to follow, 11 from the over. IND 186/3 in 18 overs

Dottin sends it the bumper and Richa hammers it across the field for FOUR. It's a no-ball and Dottin rolls in a wide with the free-hit. Fuller ball and Richa drags it swiftly to the deep for a single before Bist slams Dottin through mid-wicket for another FOUR! IND 175/3 in 17 overs

Reprieve for Richa as the mistimed slog falls in the radar of Dottin and Henry at wide long-on but a mix-up ensures the ball sails past them for FOUR! Absolutely no calls there between the fielders and a regulation chances has slipped down the drain. IND 161/3 in 16 overs

Dottin returns. A loose delivery outside off-stump and Mandhana nonchalantly lifts it over cover for FOUR. Gone this time! Mandhana pre-empts by making room for a similar shout but the extra bounce casts her dismissal this time. The ball clips the toe of the bat on its way up and Henry takes a simple catch at mid-off. But that the track has been very well set with a stellar 77 from the skipper.

In comes Richa Ghosh and out flies the ball over the fence for SIX first ball. The air of nonchalance in the swing! Dottin ends up offering more width and Richa scythes it through point for FOUR!

Bist continues to show impressive awareness of the field and a knack for keeping the scoreboard ticking. 11 balls in, she's gone at an SR over 170 without playing a dot delivery. IND 139/2 in 14 overs

Raghvi heaves the first ball of the over from Fletcher past square-leg for FOUR. A tinge of Caribbean flair to that swivel in the crease. A single follows and Mandhana glides into a smooth straight drive past the bowler FOUR more! IND 131/2 in 13 overs

First SIX in India colours for Ragvi Bist as she biffs Ramharack with a huge swing over wide long-on. She's been eyeing that shot with a similar swing through the arc a couple of times but gets the connection on point here. She's rotating strike adeptly here as Mandhana continues to make room to carve Ramaharack's shorter delivery past backward point for FOUR.

LOUD SHOUT AND GIVEN! Deceived in the air and Jemimah misses out on the sweep yet again! That looked plumb but Jemimah reviews. Afy Fletches tosses it well on the full and gets it to nudge the middle-stump. THREE REDS and she is on her way. Bizarre review there from Jemimah and India, with captain Mandhana at the other end. Raghvi Bist is in at 4. She chips the first ball through mid-on for a single. Tight over here from Fletcher. Five singles and the wicket. IND 104/2 in 11 overs

Jemimah Rodrigues lbw b Fletcher 39 (28b 4x4) 

The ball is pinging off Jemimah's blade tonight. She makes a nimble shuffle to the left and flays Ramharack over extra cover for a superb FOUR. And one ball later, Mandhana arches back and slices down to third for another FOUR. IND 99/1 in 10 overs

• Smriti Mandhana now has the most WT20I 50+ scores with her 30th such score. 
• Mandhana is the second Indian after Mithali Raj to record three consecutive fifties. 

Aaliyah Alleyne replaces Ramharack. WI continue to fiddle through their options.

A loose delivery down the leg-side and Mandhana guides it down to fine-leg for a single. Jemimah pounces on the width and makes the fielder in the deep chase to save two runs. 

Two short deliveries and Mandhana pulls them across for back-to-back FOURs - 50 in 27 balls for Mandhana.

Karishma Ramharack into the attack

Ramharack tosses the ball up and Jemimah top-edges the sweep over short fine-leg for FOUR. A couple of singles to follow. Rodrigues swats a couple of FOURs through the on-side and India finsh the Powerplay at 61/1.

LOUD SHOUT as WI review for an lbw. Jemimah attempts to sweep on the full off a straight delievery and that looks close. Extra bounce and Jemimah survives as the ball hops past leg-stump. A touch fuller and Jemimah goes for the sweep once again, finding deep square-leg for a single. IND 45/1 in 5 overs

Mandhana's unleashed! She tears Dottin apart to put India in command. Dottin goes for the short ball and Mandhana hooks it comfortably for FOUR through mid-wicket before launching a SIX over mid-off. She's waltzed to 36 in a flash! IND 40/1 in 4 overs

Henry gets a touch too straight this time and Mandhana swivels with ease to flick it past fine leg for FOUR. Another inswinger on length but Mandhana's onto it in a flash, lofting the ball over Matthews at mid-off for FOUR. Henry errs again! Fuller outside the off-stump and Mandhana seals a hat-trick of FOURs with another sumptuous cut through point. IND 20/1 in 3 overs

Henry strikes! She comes over the wicket for the right-hander and dismisses Chetry second ball. Her poor run continues but that was a superb opening over from Henry and she gets the length on-point with her final delivery. Henry angled it in and got it to straighten from the air on the full and Chetry's tame swipe across the line resulted in an easy leading-edge.

Mandhana takes guard. Henry comes around the wickets. No slip in place rather a straighter short-third is in place. 

Lovely inswinger to start proceedings. Henry swirls it nicely to cramp up Mandhana down the line. Similar deliveries to follow and Mandhana isn't really comfortable with those incoming deliveries first up. A touch fuller and outside the off-stump this time and Mandhana is off the blocks with an inside-edge down to fine-leg for a single. 

Chetry's early returns in Shafali Verma's spot have not been appealing as yet. She will have another opportunity to absorb the challenge and produce a firm start for India with Mandhana. Chetry after 3 T20I innings: 37 runs, 24 HS.

Mandhana's 2024 season with the bat in T20Is has been pretty decent even though she did miss out on making it big in the T20 World Cup. The stand-in captain has scored back-to-back fifties in the series and can join Mithali Raj as the second Indian woman to record a hat-trick of fifties in succession. A half-century will also take Mandhana past Bates for most 50+ scores in T20Is with her 30th such instance.

Vinayakk: How India struggled at the start of 2nd match in the first innings is something they’d look to avoid today, proved to be the main point of difference in the outcome. 

"The conditions changed massively after the 7th-8th over of the first innings and then I think they batted brilliantly well," Mandhana said after the 2nd match. "There was a little bit of moisture on the wicket early on, and the kind of batting we could do in the first half of the previous game, the same shots were not coming off today. Our execution of the plans with the ball could have been better. Dew wasn't there as much in the first 10 overs of their fielding and all of a sudden there was a lot. But we can't complain about that, we know it will be a factor, we just have to put our hands up and know where to bowl in such conditions."

Vinayakk Mohanarangan: So, still no Harmanpreet Kaur for India but Smriti Mandhana seems to have inherited her senior teammate’s toss luck. All three tosses have gone WI’s way this series. And DY Patil has historically been a chasing venue, so no hesitation from Hayley Matthews to bowl first. India’s batting will be under pressure to score above par again.

TOSS: WI win toss, opt to field

Hayley Mathews: We're going to bowl first, feel like we've done that pretty alright, conditions have been nice. We just spoke about execution. We've always had really good plans, just didn't get going in the first match, had some conversations and executed a lot better in the second match. We have one change. Alleyne adds a bit more depth to our lineup, she's been one of our key all-rounders.

Smriti Mandhana: We would've loved to bowl first as well. We have to go out there and bat really well. With dew in play, 185 is always a good score. Having said that, we'll be ready to do whatever it takes to get the win on the board today. Very young team this one, lot of fresh faces around, whatever opportunities they've got, they've looked really positive. They've shown intent and shown a positive attitude. We have the same XI.

Harmanpreet Kaur is unlikely to play, reckons WV Raman. The former India head coach feels the India captain might be short on match fitness as Smriti Mandhana addresses the huddle.

While she wasn't required with the bat in a seamless win in the previous game, Deandra Dottin could prove lethal in the big games. 'World Boss' did show glimpses of her best when she smote a fifty in the series opener. The three sixes officially put her atop the WT20I charts for most sixes (117*), surpassing Sophie Devine (114).

India have not beaten West Indies in a home series since their first meeting in 2011! The West Indies won the T20I leg in their last tour in 2016/17 after lifting the T20 World Cup title. Though India have blanked them in ODIs at home, a win tonight will mark a first in 13 years. India's last series against the Windies in the Caribbean ended in their favour with a tremendous 5-0 whitewash. 

Ever since they came on board as one of the newest sides in the domestic system, Uttarakhand have made quick strides forward in the development of the game. 20-year-old Raghvi Bist became one of the finer stories of the system when she became the first Uttarakhand player to represent India in the second T20I against the West Indies. Though it did not turn out to her liking, falling for four batting at No. 4 in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur, Bist will hope she can bounce back should an opportunity come here today. 

An hour out from the toss. Though Harmanpreet was seen batting in the training session, it is unclear as to whether she has regained adequate match fitness. The middle-order wore a sluggish look in the captain's absence and we will most likely see a few more rejigs in the order tonight. 

Jemimah Rodrigues has played some impressive knocks under pressure before and had provided a rolllicking start to the series when India racked up a hefty 195 on the board. Jemimah led the show from No. 3, peppering the boundary with 10 fours and two sixes during a brisk 35-ball 73. India will need her to fire and support Mandhana, should Harmanpreet fail to bolster the middle-order today.

With a fine half-century in the previous outing, Smriti Mandhana leapfrogged Harmanpreet Kaur as India's highest T20I run-scorer, moving her tally up to 3684 in 147 matches. Mandhana is second on the overall WT20I charts, with only New Zealand's Suzie Bates ahead of her with 4584 in 171 games.

Having missed out on the second T20I due to a knee niggle, the focus will be on captain Harmanpreet Kaur's availability on the decider. Stand-in captain Mandhana said on the eve of the game that the side was awaiting updates on Kaur's fitness. “Harman’s fitness, (the) BCCI medical team is observing on a day-to-day basis. They’ll be in a better place to answer that question. I think we’ll have to wait for the update from their side," Mandhana told reporters. 

After a soul-crushing drubbing Australia, India's recovery seemed to have been quick whey trounced West Indies in the first T20 in a four-day turnaround. However, the riposte was quick as Hayley Matthews rallied her troops with a blistering knock to beat India, with Smriti Mandhana in-charge of the side in Harmanpreet Kaur's absence. With the series locked 1-all, can the hosts pull ahead and seal the decider tonight with another comeback?
