(Reuters)IND vs WI 2nd ODI Highlights: Skipper Shai Hope and Keacy Carter added 91 runs for the fourth wicket as the West Indies managed to beat India by six wickets in the second ODI to level the series 1-1 and win their first game in the format against India since December 2019.
Romario Shepherd registered a career-best ODI bowling figures while Gudakesh Motie also nabbed three wickets as the West Indies reduced India for 181 in the second ODI in Barbados on Saturday.
Earlier, West Indies captain Shai Hope won the toss and opted to bowl first. Stand-in captain Hardik Pandya will be leading the team in this match while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are rested. Sanju Samson and Axar Patek will be replacing Rohit and Kohli in the playing XI. Two changes for the hosts as well with Alzarri Joseph and Keacy Carty coming in.

Keacy Carty survives once again as Kuldeep Yadav misjudges a grab at mid on. Didn't time his dive forward. Next ball, Carty gets an edge to go between the slip and the keeper. West Indies need four to win now. And four they get as Carty goes over the mid off as West Indies win by six wickets!
Shai Hope takes on Shardul Thakur and nails it into the stands over fine leg with a brilliant pick up shot. 'A captain's knock!', exclaims Ian Bishop on air. It really is something watching West Indies win with him on the mic. This may not be a World Cup game but what a sweet victory it'll be in one of the darkest hour for the West Indies cricket.
Keacy Carty meanwhile gets a top edge and survives a caught and bowled dismissal. West Indies just nine runs away from a win. 173/4 after 36 overs.
West Indies have gone with Keacy Cartu at six instead of Rovman Powell. A brave move on paper following the defeat in the first ODI but they've been rewarded for it instantly. A crucial 72-run stand for the fourth wicket with his skipper and Carty has earned a whole lot of brownie points with this West Indies side looking to find its feet back in this format after missing out on the World Cup this year. 163/4 after 35 overs.
Shardul Thakur strays down the leg side and Keacy Carty doesn't miss out on the width, just gets his bat to angle it down further away from the keeper for four down fine leg. Seven off the over, 159/4. 23 needed off the last 16 overs.
Hardik Pandua in for his second spell. Shai Hope parries him for a couple and brings up his half-century. A much deserved one for the West Indies captain. 150 up for the Windies. They're almost home now. It's been a calm and crucial stand this, following that flurry of wickets. 152/4 after 33 overs.
It's drizzling a bit but just not enough for the game to be halted. It looks not far away from a finish as well. It's been a slow and steadied innings from Keacy Carty, but he finds his first boundary off a slower on from Shardul Thakur. West Indies are 148/4 after 32 overs. 32 needed off the last 18 overs.

49 balls since the last boundary. The net run rate has dipped immensely as the Indian spinners have taken over. Remember, Axar Patel is yet to come in. Another single digit over passes. After 20 overs, India are 97/4.
Jadeja keeping it tight from the other end as well. Just the one run off his over. Kuldeep from the other end. "Ek ball bat aur pad ke beechme," goes Ishan Kishan. Ravindra Jadeja replaces Kuldeep Yadav. Five singles off the over. Meawhile, a switch of ends for Kuldeep, who manages to keep Hetmyer and Hope at bay and strikes off the last ball.
Looking to cut late, the southpaw misses the trajectory of the ball from over the wicket. Fantastic end to the over. West Indies are 91/4 after 17 overs.
India are right back into this contest with those three Shardul Thakur strikes, 19 balls since the last boundary. West Indies are 84/3 after 15 overs. 98 runs needed off 35 overs. Time of drinks break.
Short and Alick Athanaze top edges it for Ishan Kishan to claim. Smart bowling this from Thakur, with Athanaze looking restless on his feet. West Indies go three down for 75 after 13 overs.

Good time to bring spin on with two new batters in. India have 30 overs of it, if they can take the match down the wire. Unlikely, but just putting it here. Over the wicket to the right hander and Thakur has managed to get this one through the defence of Brandon King. Hits him on the pad and it looks plumb. A wide follows before the southpaw goes for glory but is caught at square leg. India have a breakthrough just as the Windies cross the 50 mark. 53/1 in the eigth over.
Umran Malik replaces Mukesh Kumar. Brandon King takes on the speedster. Uses the pace to cut one behind point for four. Next ball, goes on the other side of the fielder but the result's the same. End of the eighth over, India are 36/0.
Hardik Pandya has managed to keep it down to five dots in a row but Kyle Mayers has the final say in the seventh over. Final one is back of a length but not short enough and Mayers stands on one leg to flick one behind fine leg for four. What an early display it has been from him! After seven overs, West Indies are 38/0.
Mukesh Kumar continues to improve following that first over where he was clubbed by Kyle Mayers. Short ball to Brandon King and he flicks it behind deep square leg for four. A couple deliveries later, King is beaten by a nip backer. There's an lbw appeal but the umpire isn't interested. Nor are the Indians. Just the four off the over. 34/0 after six overs.
Hardik Pandya goes short against Kyle Mayers and the southpaw unlocks a no-look flick six over deep square leg. Gorgeous wristwork and one for the cameras. Seven runs come off the over. 30/0 after five overs.
Brandon King on the other hand, is still finding his feet. It's not the easiest to bat on this surface, as was evident in the first innings. But if someone like Kyle Mayers can prolong his stay in the middle, it should be enough for the West Indies to get to 182. Good second over from Mukesh Kumar, who seems to have found his tappa now. 23/0 after four.
Mayers rocks on the backfoot to play a cover drive. Just the two runs but that might be the best shot we've seen so far in this game. The poise, the weight shift, the touch of the bat while jumping mid-air.
Follows it with a flick on the back foot and boy those wrists are looking red hot today. Three runs off the over. West Indies are 21/0 after three overs.
Mukesh Kumar has the ball from the other end. The first ball from over the wicket is full and on the legs, Mayers just clips it aside for a second boundary. This one down the deep square leg region. Next one is full but outside off, a lovely cover drive comes out - same result. 11 off the over. 18/0 after two overs.
Pandya goes full and Kyle Mayers with the strong bottom hand to cover drive it through for the first boundary of the innings. The Indian skipper follows it with a hard length - angling away - that takes Mayers aback. Seven runs come off the first over.
So, 182. That's all India have in their kitty to defend. Might turn out to be enough on this surface and the West Indies cannot be complacent, as emphasized by former keeper batter Denesh Ramdin. Lot of chatter around the reshuffling in the Indian batting order. Former India selector Saba Karim puts it this way on-air for JioCinema, "If Surya has to bat at that spot, he needs to be given a good run of games in that position to get acclimatized to that position."
Same goes with someone like Axar Patel being promoted to number four. The other side of it being who are the players that are usual features of the playing XI. If a left-hander has to be added to the number four spot, shouldn't it be someone like a Ravindra Jadeja, who is pretty much guaranteed a spot in the XI when fit?
Off the two ODIs so far, India have scored 231 runs off 47 overs of batting, and have lost 10 wickets during the same. A reminder that it was this West Indies side that missed out on World Cup qualification a month back. A reminder that it will be pretty much this Indian batting order - barring Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli at the usual positions - that will feature in the upcoming World Cup at home in less than three months time.
