India take on West Indies in the third and final T20I in Chennai on Sunday. With the series already in the bag and the tour to Australia looming forward, the Indian think tank will possibly look to test its bench strength. National selectors have already announced the decision to rest Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav and wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Siddarth Kaul has been added as a replacement in the squad for the final T20I.
Rohit Sharma continues his sublime form while the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant among others would like to have a few more runs under the belt before the Australia tour. In the bowling department, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed will most likely lead the pace attack. Yuzvendra Chahal will return to the playing eleven in the absence of Kuldeep. Krunal Pandya retains his spot.
For the visitors, things have gone south since the fourth ODI and a change in format hasn’t helped them turn their fortunes either. The absence of Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis has hurt them at the top of the order. While Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo, and others haven’t fired in the middle order either. Among the bowlers, Oshane Thomas impressed the most with his brisk pace to consistently trouble the batsmen.
India will travel to Australia later this month for series comprising of 3 ODIs, 4 Tests, 3 T20s. The first T20I between the two teams will take place on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the Gabba in Brisbane.
