India vs New Zealand 1st T20 at Eden Park, Auckland

India vs New Zealand (IND vs NZ) 1st T20 2020 Squad, Schedule, Venue, Players List: Preparations for the World Cup on top of their agenda, India will take on an injury-hit New Zealand in a rare five-match T20 International series starting on Friday during which seam-friendly wickets would be a major challenge for the visitors.

Unlike most overseas tours, this will be a quick start for the Indian team. In a tight season, the first T20 comes only five days after their last ODI against Australia at home.

The team arrived in Auckland on Tuesday and chose to rest on Wednesday. Thursday was when they hit the nets ahead of the tour-opening game.

India vs New Zealand 1st T20I Dream11 Team Prediction: Playing 11, Captain, and Vice-Captain Prediction

Despite the recent good record in the shortest format, there is a downbeat mood in the hosts’ dressing room thanks to the 3-0 shellacking received in Australia over the past month. It hasn’t helped matters that the disappointing loss to their trans-Tasman rivals has raised questions about Kane Williamson’s future as captain.

New Zealand's T20I record in past few months!

New Zealand’s performance in the T20Is has witnessed an upward curve- beating India 2-1 in the T20I series last year, then winning the T20I series during their Sri Lankan tour before drawing 2-2 at home against England. But all the good work has taken a backseat after a drubbing at the hands of Australia over the past month.

Kohli on KL Rahul ahead of 1st T20I against New Zealand

“In the ODIs, we will stick with Rajkot and let KL Rahul express himself at 5. In T20Is the dynamics change and let KL bat at the top. He’s doing well with gloves and that has given us more stability and we are looking to continue with him for a while.”

In their last T20 series, Virat Kohli and co. overcome a hapless Sri Lanka but now face a formidable Kiwi side. Pitch Report

The Eden Park wicket at Auckland is known for a good bounce and carry which means batsman will enjoy their day with the bat. The ball comes nicely on to the bat and wonderful strokeplay will be witnessed. With both the teams have tall and lanky fast bowlers who can generate extra bounce from the good length areas and trouble the batsmen on occasions, things seem equally poised for both. Considering the dimensions of the ground, batting second will be a good idea.

    Weather Update

Both the team have come into camp in Eden Park, Auckland where the first T20I is scheduled for Friday. The nature of the Auckland venue is much windier in comparison to some of the Indian venues and this will pose a little bit of challenge to the Indian batting line up. Though no rain has been forecast for Friday, the humidity will be quite high as well. A slightly cloudy with the temperatures being in the range of 17-25°C is expected.
