India vs Australia highlights, 4th T20: Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi take IND to win by 20 runs and seal the series in Raipur

Other than toss, everything (went well). Boys showed character and that was most important for us. We spoke in the meeting before the game to go out and express yourself and be fearless. I always love putting Axar under pressure and the way he bowled was unbelievable. The plan (during the death overs) was to go for the yorkers and then see what happens.

We just didn't play spin very well, lost a few little too wickets in the middle as well. The guys came in did a good job but unfortunately we couldn't do the job with the bat. Just to continue to learn from the guys who are already established in the team and to have depth in the squad is really key as the T20 World Cup is round the corner.

The damage was done in the middle-overs with the spinners and it was a catching-up game from then on. It was a very similar chase to how India batted in the first innings with the batters getting starts but none kicking on to make a score of substance. With the win India sealed the series. It will taste bittersweet from a fan perspective after what has happened a few days ago but that's what cricket is all about in this modern world cherish this moment. Congratulations to all the Indian youngsters and coaching staff for playing some thrilling cricket. 

Australia need 31 runs to win the final over. Mathew Wade will be on the strike for the first ball and Avesh Khan is going to bowl the over. 

Well as expected the situation seemed to be a little too big for Dwarshuis who departed as Avesh Khan picked his first wicket of the evening. Things are looking gloomy for Australia as each over is passing by. Looks like India is going to seal the series here in Raipur unless Wade pulls off something ridiculous. 

Deepak Chahar finishes strongly here. He picked up Short who too was looking dangerous. Now it is too much to do for even Mathew Wade. Dwarshuis has the reputation to hit the long ball but is he competent enough to do so against an international quality attack we are going to find out in 10 minutes or so. 

Mukesh Kumar has slipped in an expensive over here. The idea of his to bowl the yorker is right but Wade is prepared for the full deliveries and is looking to scoop the ball towards the fine leg region. India needs to pick Wade here because he has finished this kind of chase before in high-profile games and even was part of that onslaught against the Indian bowlers in Guwahati when Maxwell was on a rampage. 

Deepak Chahar picked up Tim David. He bowled a shorter one which David tried to pull and got the top edge for a deep mid-wicket fielder to take the catch. This game is not done yet but with that wicket, it looks like the balance has tilted increasingly in favour of India. Short has been playing some lovely shots from the other end will be interesting to see how he approaches his innings from here on. 

The spinners are done for the day and for the remainder of seven overs Suryakumar Yadav needs to use his seamers. There is no dew yet on the ground and the ones who struggle to bowl yorkers can rely open the slower ones to get some help in this phase. As for Australia, this is what they want they have seen the spinners and now they will believe they can target the seamers. 

Axar Patel's done for the day and he has given his name as Man Of the Match contender. This has been a top-class spell from the left-arm spinner. Defending totals like this it becomes important that the spinners keep the pressure on in the middle overs and chip in with wickets and make it tougher and tougher for the chasing team. 

It's one again Mcdermott vs Bishnoi which has been the talking point of this phase. The batter was given out LBW this time on-field however, he reviewed it to see that the ball was missing the stumps. The partnership is now slowly building up for Australia and they will be look to see-off spinners and take on other bowlers. 

We have arrived at the second drinks break so far India has been ahead in this game but 100 runs in a modern game is gettable. However, one thing Surya has done again is he still has three overs of his spinners left. There is still no dew on the onfield the game might depend on how the Aussie batters deal with those spinners.

This has been typical of Suryakumar Yadav's captaincy where he tends to bring in his seamer right after the powerplay for an over and keeps him for the death and uses spinner in the Powerplay. We have to wait and see if it is something he is doing for this surface or will he do the same in different conditions with different playing XI's

It's once again the Indian spin which did the damage. This is a good exposure to the young Australian batters facing the Indian spin on this kind of surface. However, for some reason Suryakumar Yadav has decided to get back Avesh Khan here while the spinners have been beating the batters all ends up. 

Another one goes against Ravi Bishnoi as he yet again appelead for LBW which the on-field umpire deemed not out and the decision was sent upstairs once to his agony only to find out it was the umpire's call. As we update Axar Patel picks up Hardie. Once again batter trying to hit him across the line gets bowled. 

Ravi Bishnoi almost had his second wicket of Mcdermott but was not given out by the umpire however, the decision was sent upstairs and on replay, it showed it was the umpire's call disappointment for the bowler and one goes batter's way. Axar Patel is now brought into attack by Suryakumar Yadav is operating with spin from both ends and as we updated Axar Patel picks up Travis Head. 

How often we have seen this in the series? Australia get off to a good start and Ravi Bishnoi comes into the attack and picks a wicket. Phillipe tried to reversweep the leg-spinner of the very first ball and missed it completely. Once again the move to get Bishnoi inside the Powerplay has worked for Suryakumar Yadav.

Mukesh Kumar though has been taken for a boundary he has started well. The good sign for the Indian team is there is no dew on the outfield at the moment. It will be interesting to see how Suryakumar Yadav will use his bowlers, especially after what has happened in the last game. 

Travis Head and Josh Phillipe have started the chase for Australia here. It is not a big total on the board hence if they can get a quick start in this Powerplay India will be behind in the game. Deepak Chahar has taken the new ball and he did get some help Interestingly it is Mukesh Kumar who has taken the new ball from the other end. 

That's that folks India have scrapped to that total. There have been no demons in the wickets whatsoever it has been Australia's consistent bowling and India losing wickets regularly has restricted India to that total. If not for Rinku and Jistesh's partnership at the end things would have looked a lot worse for the side. Can India defend these runs we have to wait and see stay with us to catch all the live updates from the second innings.

Dwarshuis has picked up two wickets in an over and has turned this game around. Just when it was looking like India were going to post a decent total on the board they are getting pulled back. Chahar has walked into the middle and the onus is on him and Rinku to take India at least to a 180 from here on. 

Out of all the partnerships India has had today this might be the partnership which might turn this game in favour of India. Behrendorff's day continues to get worse and worse though he has improved as a death bowler he's goto weapon is a slower one but this surface so far has showed no signs of slowness. 

Unlike previous games India has batted to number eight today hence we can see the freedom with which the batters are batting at the moment. Rinku Singh today is showing a different dimension to his batting which is not only can he come out in the end play a few shots but also can anchor the innings if needed.

Jitesh Sharma has started with intent here. He has been counted as one of the bright prospects for the future and here he is showing his finishing prowess. With five overs still to go 180 looks like a possibility for India which should be a decent enough total if the Indian bowlers can hit their mark. 

One thing Australia has been successful today compared to the previous games has been their ability to pick wickets regularly. Whenever there has been a set batter who has been looking to change gears they have managed to pick a wicket. And credit to Tanveer Sangha who has had a brilliant spell today. 

The Indians have the tough task of deciding what would be a good score on this surface. Given the grass on the surface and the probability of dew, it would be the new ball which would do much of the damage in the second innings and once the ball gets older it might get a tad bit easier. Anything over 170-180 would be a good score on this one. 

The new ball is swinging a bit hence having Deepak Chahar would be an added advantage for India who is one of the best exponents of any sort of swing that is on offer in the country. Though there has been not much for the spinners the longer boundaries here is giving that advantage to the tweakers. 

We have reached the first water break of the game and it has been a 50-50 start for both sides but Australia might be slightly happy because of the wicket of Surya who can take the game away from any side, especially in this format. Rinku Singh has walked into the middle and it will be interesting to see how he will navigate these middle overs. 

An excellent passage of play for Australia here as they have picked up two wickets in quick succession first it was Iyer and then it's Suryakumar. The Indian skipper trying to play a ball outside the off-stump had no foot movement and got the outside edge to the keeper. This might not be as high-scoring as the games before. 

Good to see a decent turnout today for the game. After the first game in Vizag, the crowds have been poor for the series which is a bit strange. Yes, there may be a bit of a World Cup hangover but these have been the venues traditionally India won't play much cricket. However, good crowd today and hopefully we will have another good game on our hands. As we update Tanveer Sangha picks up Shreyas Iyer as he tried to take the aggressive route against the leggy.  

Jaiswal trying to pull a short ball from Hardie gets high on the bat and departs. This has been top bowling from the Aussie in this opening spell. He has bent his back and hit hard lengths consistently which has given them the rewards. Shreyas Iyer has walked into the middle for the first time in the series and he will be tested with some short ball music. 

Chris Green has been brought into the attack for the first time. He seems to be one of that T20 specialist bowler who tends to bowl flatter and quicker through the air not letting the batters have enough time or room to hit them the distance. It will be a good learning curve for him given the wet ball and quality of batters he is up against. 

Once again both the openers have got to a flier. Hardie did start well, however, Behrendorff and Dwarshuis who followed him up have been poor today. While the former has been unusually poor today the latter is playing his first game of the series. Gaikwad has been doing Gaikwad thing by going under the radar Jasiwal is taking on the bowling in this partnership

Seamers are getting plenty of the surface at this point. Surprisingly this is not only swinging but there is also bounce on offer which is a bit rare to see on black soil wickets. If it is because of Behrendorff's height or if it is that sort of surface only time can answer. And on the other end, the bounce is very limited. This has been a feature of this series where either ends played very differently. 

Hardie has taken the new ball for Australia which is a bit of a surprise given the grass on the surface. Beherendorff who is a swing bowler has been deprived of the first love throughout the tournament from Mathew Wade for a reason that only he could answer. 

The Indian openers are walking in the middle all eyes are now on the pitch and will be interesting to see how it plays. There seems to be grass on it hence expect some swing for the fast bowlers with new ball for Australia.

The wicket looks good, well rolled, hard and has a nice grass coverage. It's an uniform 74m all around the ground. Dew should be a factor and the captain winning the toss would choose to bowl first

With dew around captain who wins the toss might opt to bowl first again

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has revealed what traits makes Indian skipper Rohit Sharma stand out as a captain. Ashwin was recently part of the Indian cricket team, which was led by Rohit, that lost the World Cup final to Australia earlier this month.

Rohit was the leader of the side and opened the innings, often giving the Indian cricket team blistering starts in the first powerplay overs. But his captaincy was also praised during the tournament. (Read more)

With six months to go for the next T20 World Cup, India are sending out mixed signals. As the selectors named a 17-member squad to be led by Suryakumar Yadav for the upcoming T20Is in South Africa, the core group seems to have been identified. Yet, there is no clear cut signal as to what the future holds for Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul in T20Is.

With the first three T20Is of the India versus Australia series having turned into run fests, the Indian bowlers will be heaving a sigh of relief upon seeing that tormentor-in-chief Glenn Maxwell will not be around for the fourth game at Raipur.

India were looking good to seal the series with a 3-0 margin in the previous game, thanks to an unbeaten century from Ruturaj Gaikwad, which helped them post a total of 222.

The hosts then reduced the depleted Australian side to 68 for 3. Then Maxwell intervened, scoring a century in less than 50 balls. Australia chased down the total off the last ball of the innings, thereby keeping the series alive.

For the fourth game, there are expected to be changes to both teams. For India, Shreyas Iyer, who is the vice-captain of the side, will likely make it to the XI after being rested for the first three games. If he’s in, Tilak Varma could make way. Mukesh Kumar, who was not present for Game 3 on account of his wedding, could also be drafted in.

Going in for a complete overhaul of their high-performance cricketing establishment after their World Cup debacle, the Pakistan Cricket Board named three former Pakistan cricketers as consultants to Wahab Riaz, who was himself recently appointed as the chief selector for the national team. But one of the names from the trio is likely to raise some eyebrows.

Kamran Akmal, Rao Iftikhar Anjum and Salman Butt will be consultants to Pakistan chief selector Wahab Riaz, the PCB announced on Friday. But Salman Butt‘s presence as a consultant has come as a surprise considering his involvement in the infamous spot-fixing scandal in 2010. (Read more)

Mitchell Marsh, who came under severe criticism from Indian fans for resting his feet on the World Cup trophy, has insisted that he meant no disrespect, but added that he would probably repeat the gesture.

A day after Australia won the Word Cup, beating India in the final, Marsh was pictured with his feet on the trophy which irked many Indian fans. But while speaking to SEN Radio network in Australia, Marsh opened up on the incident for the first time. (Read more)

Having performed well in the 50 overs World Cup; Shubman Gill, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj are in the T20 squad.

What this means: Kuldeep and Siraj are in the mix for next year’s T20 World Cup. Gill is a sureshot.

Ravindra Jadeja gets a place in the T20I squad and is named the team vice-captain.

What this means: Jadeja is part of the leadership group but not captaincy material as he is deputy to Suryakumar Yadav. It also is an indication that he is perhaps ahead of Axar Patel in the scheme of things for the World Cup.

With Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoins and Josh Inglis going back to Australia, the team will have a few new faces. Green is someone who needs to be watched out for by the Indian team. He is a seasoned campaigner in the format across the globe. He is a tidy bowler and can tonk the ball a long way in the final overs of the innings.

Though Prasidh Krishna has many strengths, bowling at the death in T20s is not one of them. That got exposed during the third T20I. Mukesh Kumar who missed out on the last game to get married will be back in the eleven to perform the death bowling role. He has been one of the more accurate and precise bowlers in the series with the deliveries he wanted to execute during clutch situations of the game

As if the batting line-up was already not strong enough for the Aussie bowlers to deal with Shreyas Iyer will now join the squad and is expected to play right away, to add to Australia’s headaches. Iyer will play a crucial role in the middle over in the upcoming T20 World Cup and his role in the team and what number he will be batting might be there to see from this game.
