IND vs AUS WCL 2025 Highlights: Australia Champions beat India Champions by 4 wickets in Leeds

It did look like India were pulling away; however, what was supposed to be the last ball of the over was deemed as wide, and it was a mistake from the umpire, and that extra delivery from Vinay Kumar went for the boundary. Well, it can be anyone's game still.

Well, Harbhajan has picked up Ben Cutting. Cutting smacked the off-spinner for a couple of sixes, and then Harbhajan bowled his Doosra, which Cutting could not pick, and the ball went high in the air, and the keeper Robin Uthappa took a lovely catch. This game is not over yet. Rob Quiney has walked in as an impact sub for Australia in place of Brett Lee.

Well, there is a breakthrough; it is Vinay Kumar who has got the wicket. Christian tried to hit it against the wind and was caught on the boundary. That is a massive wicket for India as they were taking the game away. Also, Callum Ferguson has scored a lovely half-century here, keeping Australia in the hunt.

Well, this partnership has turned this game on its head. Both Callum Ferguson and Dan Christian have played this perfectly, with Ben Cutting still to come. Australia are favourites to pull this one. India also has to blame themselves, Australia did give opportunities which the Indians missed. This is shaping up to be a humdinger of a contest here.

Well, this is shaping up to be a nice passage for Australia. Both Callum Ferguson and Dan Christian have complemented each other nicely here. They did not panic, as one would expect, they had played this game for a long time. They respected the spinners, and as soon as Vinay Kumar came in, they unleashed their stroke play.

In chases such as these, teams need good, solid partnerships to set up the game. Although the run rate might climb a bit, but still with wickets in hand in the last 5-6 overs team wreaks havoc but as always, it happens with big chases team loses one too many wickets in the first few overs and puts themselves on the backfoot.

Piyush Chawla has turned this game on its head here. First, it was Shaun Marsh who chopped the ball onto stumps, and then Ben Dunk tried to cut the ball, which was way wide, and the ball took the edge, and the keeper Uthappa took a lovely catch. They need a bit of rebuilding to do here do the Australians. As we update Chawla picks his third and it is Darcy Short

If it was pace for Australia in the powerplay for India, it has been spin. In addition to Harbhajan bowling two overs, Yuvraj also used an over from Yusuf Pathan, which went quite well considering there were only two fielders outside the ring. Now leg-spinner Piyush Chawla too is brought into the attack. As we update Piyush Chawla picked up Shaun Marsh.

Lynn got himself into a bit of flyer before Harbhajan rattled his off-stump. It was an arm ball from the off-spinner, which Lynn had no clue where it was turning, and the ball hit his off-stump. However, before that, he did a bit of damage as he squeezed 20 runs against Siddarth Kaul, who was short on length.

Vinay Kumar took the opening over for India, and he pitched a few up looking for swing; however, one of the deliveries came right under the bat of Chris Lynn, which smacked down the ground for a six. The wicket seems to have gotten better and better as the first innings went on, and is looking even better now.

That's it, those last two overs from Brett Lee and Nathan Coulter-Nile did a lot of damage to the Aussies; they conceded 46 runs, which helped India go past 200. That was brutal hitting by Yusuf Pathan at the end. Anything that was in his arc, he mercilessly slammed it over the ropes for boundaries.

Yusuf Pathan too started going here. India is closing in on a very good first innings score. The way this partnership is going, India would be looking to get over 190 runs here, which should be a very good total on this surface. Also, Dhawan, once he crossed his half-century, has changed the gears completely and is looking good for 100.

This has been a vintage Shikhar Dhawan innings. He started a bit slowly and went under the radar when Uthappa was going after the bowling; however, as he got into his innings, he started to play those trademark Dhawan shots, which he has played throughout his Indian career. The one through mid-wicket off-spinners is a gorgeous shot.

Yuvraj Singh has fallen here. The Indian skipper could not pick up the flighted delivery of Darcy Short and was caught by Nathan Coulter-Nile. Meanwhile, at the other end, Shikhar Dhawan has brought up his half-century. How often have we seen with Dhawan through his playing days, where he just holds the innings by himself.

This is a good passage of play for the Australian Champions, they have managed to tighten the screws and now are inducing the breakthroughs. Brett Lee bowls one on food length. Raina was trying to play his trademark shot over the extra-cover inside out, got the edge, and the catch was taken nicely third-man inside the ring.

Since the fall of wickets, the scoring has gone down for the Indian side as anticipated. Shikhar Dhawan has taken the responsibility to take on the bowling here, meanwhile, Suresh Raina is taking his time to get adjusted to the pace of the wicket. We have seen him throughout his career for the Chennai Super Kings, how dangerous he can be.

Dan Christian came to bowl the final over of the powerplay and has picked up both Uthappa and Rayadu. Uthappa was the first one to go as he tried to whack one on the off-side and the ball took the edge to the keeper, and then Rayadu was done by a beautiful piece of bowling, the leg-cutter from Christian gripped and moved away to take off his stumps.

Robin Uthappa has batted well here. He has shown intent right away in the first over and played his vintage crisp shots and got his innings underway. He has made the most of the pace that was on offer by the Aussie pacers. As we update, both the openers have put on a 50-run opening stand here.

This is a good start for India already. There has been a spring in the step in both openers. It is a must-win for them, especially after the tonking they took in the previous game. There was a bit of swing in the first over, but as it happens, always the moment dies down quickly, and Lee has started to pull back his length.

We are done with the opening, over Brett Lee was getting a bit of swing and seam. While Uttappa tried to charge down the wicket and play a few shots, but was not successful in doing so. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan at the other end has looked good and played a crisp boundary to close the first over.

The Anthems are done here. Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uttappa are in the middle and Brett Lee has the new ball for Australia. It promises to be a mouth watering contest here in Leeds.

It is a bit gloomy and dark here. However, there is no rain yet; we might have a cracking game on our hands. It will be the Indian team who will come to bat and put on a mammoth total on the board in the first innings, and as for Australia, they will look to oppose it.
