Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz was hit accidentally by the ball during his team’s practice session at the PCA stadium after which he was taken for a “precautionary scan” at a private hospital in Mohali.

“The throw hit him between the neck and shoulder. He has gone for the scan just as a precautionary measure,” Pakistan media manager Agha Akbar told PTI.

Asked how the throw hit him, Akbar said, “someone threw the ball and it hit him accidentally”.

About the left-arm pacer’s condition, he said, “otherwise he is okay”.

Pakistan are desperately looking to ensure the painful defeat to India becomes a distant past when they run into an in-form New Zealand in Mohali on Tuesday.

The team had a lengthy practice session at the PCA stadium in Mohali on Monday.
