India pacer Pooja Vastrakar has been ruled out of the ICC Women’s World T20 after suffering a knee injury during a warm-up match against the Windies before the tournament began on November 9. Devika Vaidya has been named as a replacement for injured Vastrakar. Vaidya is expected to join the squad before the semi-finals in Antigua on 22 November. Vaidya has played just one T20 International match for India.
The ICC event technical committee allowed the Indian team to use a replacement. Earlier, an ankle injury had ruled out Vastrakar from the Women’s Challenger Trophy in August. She also had miss India’s tour of Sri Lanka in September.
Mithali Raj was the other casualty as she sat out of the group B encounter between India and Australia.
