Gujarat Cricket Association is likely to rope in former India off-spinner Ramesh Powar for the forthcoming domestic season. Powar, who last played for Rajasthan, was approached by the GCA a few weeks ago after he had sought a No Objection Certificate from the BCCI. The 36-year-old was one of the few players to apply for the NOC after the Indian board suspended the Rajasthan Cricket Association for the 2014-15 season.
“We are in talks with Powar and things will be finalised in the coming days. As he has already obtained a NOC from BCCI, we have shown interest in hiring him,” GCA secretary Rajesh Patel told The Indian Express.
It is learnt that the GCA is waiting for an approval from their president Amit Shah. GCA had also approached Pankaj Singh following RCA’s suspension but the India Test pacer was keen on waiting a bit longer before making any decision.
