Shubman Gill scored a sparkling century before Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s brilliant five-wicket haul stopped GT at 188 for nine.
With the ball in hand, GT restricted SRH to 154 for nine. Heinrich Klaasen top-scored with a 44-ball 64 for SRH while Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma bagged four wickets apiece for the hosts. Invited to bat first, GT lost Wriddhiman Saha for a duck but Gill smashed 101 off 58 balls to help his team set a solid platform.
The duo of Gill and Sai Sudharsan, who chipped in with 47 off 36 balls, added 147 runs for the second wicket to power GT’s innings.
For SRH, seasoned seamer Bhuvneshwar finished with figures of 5/30, including taking three wickets in an excellent final over that pegged back GT.

It has been a comprehensive performance from the hosts. With the victory, they became the first team to qualify for the playoffs this season. Sunrisers Hyderabad's final score flatters to deceive. They were never in the contest after the first few overs. With the defeat, they are out of the tournament as well. There is plenty of reconstruction that needs to be done in the Orange Army and it will take a while. GT on the other hand, has reached another playoff and looks like favourites to win their second title. Mohammed Shami with the new ball has been absolutely sensational and so has been the case today. If Hardik can come back to form it will be very hard to beat GT in the playoffs.
Mohammed Shami can do nothing wrong today. Klassen who has not mistimed one finally gets outs after getting a toe end of the bat. Excellent evening for Shami he destroyed SRH in his opening burst if not far from Klassen things would have come to an end long back. After 17 over SRH 127/8
Henrich Klassen hits the ball back which hit Noor Ahmed who went on to the ground and the medical staff has come to have a look at him. Klassen is not giving up on this chase yet. Tushar Bhaduri: Mohammed Shami's bowling in this IPL would not be out of place in a Test match, regardless of pitch conditions. The Sunrisers Hyderabad had seemingly no clue about how to combat quality bowling with the new cherry. The total they were chasing was not enormous so they could afford to give Shami the respect he deserved. But Anmolpreet Singh thought it fit to attempt a hoick off a back-of-a-length delivery, only to get a top edge that was caught at third man. Rahul Tripathi gave regulation catching practice behind the wicket as he guided Shami to Rahul Tewatia at slip. Abhishek Sharma had already been dismissed by a lazy waft off returning left-armer Yash Dayal. Even skipper Aiden Markram found Shami too hot to handle, a length ball taking a leading edge and landing in point's hand as the South African looked to turn it to the legside. The procession continued and went on to prove why Sunrisers Hyderabad is considered to have the weakest batting line-up in the league.
A brilliant innings. Whilst wickets were falling from the other end he stood his ground. Played some sumptuous shots and eventually got there. He has been the only positive for SRH this season amidst all the chaos. For him personally if could get to a good 70-80 here will do a world of good for his confidence. After 14.2 over SRH 105/7
Their batting which looked like Rolls Royce just could not deliver. As the tournament went on things got even worse. The nurtured Umran Malik is nowhere in the lineup. England's World cup winning Adil Rashid has not been involved after the first few games. Looks like all the franchise has completely lost their way now. This has been an excellent performance by GT with the ball. Despite losing wickets in the later part of the batting innings they have pulled back nicely courtesy of a brilliant new ball spell from Mohammed Shami. This is turning out to be a sorry-looking card for the SRH fans. Klassen has been fighting a lone battle from one end and the rest of the batting has come and gone. There has been no resistance shown by the batters whatsoever. After 9 over SRH 57/7
Mohit Sharma picks up two wickets in an over. Looks like SRH is done for the tournament. It has been a disappointing season for the orange army. Despite having a very good squad they could not deliver this season in a mus win game they completely lost the plot. After 7.2 over SRH 52/6
Spin was brought into the attack by Hardik Pandya. It has not gone according to the plan as Klassen went after Rashid however, the leg-spinner along with Noor Ahmed has been brilliant in the middle overs for GT this season. Aiden Markram is looking in good touch again today departed after playing a couple of sumptuous shots. He was looking in sublime touch with his driving however, it is Mohammed Shami once again who picked him. Marrkam trying to play the ball on the leg side gets a leading edge and departs. Mohammed Shami picks up Rahul Tripathi, SRH three down in Powerplay. This is a poor piece of batting by SRH. Chasing relatively a low total they have come out as if they are to chase 240 runs. They just kept playing ugly shots instead of trying to consolidate and build a partnership. After 3 over SRH 17/2
Abhishek Sharma plays an ugly swipe and gets an outside edge which the keeper takes comfortably SRH is shooting themselves in the foot chasing a pretty decent total on this excellent wicket. It has been the ground most sixes are hit. SRH batters need to build a partnership and give themselves a chance. After 2 over SRH 12/2

Sriram Veera: The innings that had four fours in a row early on ended with four wickets in five balls and actually could well have been five wickets in six balls. Bhuvneshwar Kumar had the centurion Shubman Gill snapped at extra cover before his slower one started to consume one victim after another. Rashid Khan was too early with his swat, Noor Ahmed was beaten by the slower one and was run out trying to steal a bye but the relay throw combo from the keeper-bowler did him in. Then another slower had Mohammad Shami hole out and it could well have been five in six balls when Mohit Sharma missed the final slower one from Bhuvneshwar and stole a bye. Had Klassen’s under-arm throw found the stumps, Shanaka would have been run out as well.
It has been an inning of two halves for the Titans. The hosts have started exceptionally well in the first innings, however, tailed back in the second half. They have lost four wickets in the final over and nine wickets in the second 10 overs which tells the story. It has been an excellent comeback from SRH. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has bowled exceptionally well on this good batting track he used his slower balls and cutters nicely. Shubman Gill, on the other hand, played one of the best knocks of the tournament. However, despite his heroics, it seems like GT are 40-50 runs short and this is quite chasable for SRH. What a knock this has been from Gill. Nothing extravagant nothing unorthodox pure cricketing shots that took him there. What a phenomenal form he has been in the last six-eight months. What a lovely innings this turning out to be Sudharsan. He understands that Shubman Gill is going well from the other end and he has been the silent partnership of the two. He has been calmly churning out his runs and he closing to his 50 as well. After 14 over Gujarat Titans 147/1
Shubman Gill has grown from strength to strength in the last year. He has taken his game to a whole new level in the last 3-4 months. His T20 batting has gone up a notch as well There is nothing about power to all of it. It is all orthodox cricketing shots that help him get the score. In the last game, the Mumbai Indians new ball pairing was all over the GT top order, however, after that poor effort the other day top order has come back strongly today. Especially Sudharsan who is making his comeback is looking in fine touch here. After 11.1 over Gujarat Titans 119/1
This has been a fabulous partnership by the pairing. Sudharsan initially took on the bowling and then once Gill got settled and he started to go after the bowling the left-hander took a backfoot. The duo has complimented each other nicely here. This looking not at all good for SRH they have completely lost their with the ball after winning the toss and opting to ball first. After bowling an expensive first over Farooqi is brought back into the attack. He bowled a decent over. It is a bit of a breather for the SRH as it is one of those rare overs which has not gone into double figures. Aiden Markram would be hoping to bowl a few more of these and strangle the pairing. Apart from the second over from Jansen, the bowlers have not done anything wrong for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. It has been pure class from Gill and Sudharsan who played a brilliant knock on this good wicket. This has been top-class innings from Shubman Gill. He clearly seems to love this ground. Aiden Markram brought himself into the attack from the end where the right-hander has a longer leg-side however, he could not get much joy as Gill played delicate touches which ran away for the boundary. Sriram Veera: Perhaps Shubman Gill will not find a simpler chance to hit four fours in a row as he would do on Monday night. The left-armer Fazalhaq Farooqi seemed cooked right after the first four, off the third ball of the fourth over. It was a short of length delivery and Gill did what he does: that short-arm-jab pull to midwicket boundary. From then on the nerves shredded. A leg side ball was despatched off a clip, a length ball with a bit of width outside off was caressed to point where it was misfielded, and the final ball was a slower on that sat up outside leg stump and Gill put it out of misery by tapping it past short fine-leg. The change of ends for Marco Jansen has worked. He bowled a decent over giving just five runs and stopping the flow of runs. The left-hander making a comeback too similar to Jansen has started a bit nervously with his running between the wickets however, in the second over of Bhuvi he looked in sublime touch. Making a comeback into the side Jansen has not started well. He has sprayed the ball all over the place. He bowled three wides in the over out of one of which went for a boundary and bowled a no-ball which gave away the free hit. It may be not a knock out for Gujarat Titans but it definitely is for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Despite having one of the best squads in the tournament they are having a sorry season so far. However, what matters now is the remaining games in hand and winning them. For GT it is all about carrying momentum to the playoffs. Really enjoying it, it's been a good season. I haven't had as many balls as last season because the guys have been performing really well this year with the bat. Nice to contribute where we can. Missed last game with the result, but that goes in the long format. Everyone's done well at different stages. The top six have all scored decent amount of runs and been out in the middle and done the job. Good team spirit at the moment, the boys are really enjoying each others' success. In this competition, things can change very quickly. We are very aware of that. It's about sticking to the processes and what's worked in the past for us and staying hungry every single game. There's no easy game in this competition and it's about being aware of that and making sure we are up for every single game. It (top two finish) helps tremendously, the next two games are really important. If we can win two out of two, that'll be fantastic. Finishing in the top two - that's definitely the goal.

Yeah, it is a special inititiave to support cancer patients. We have played really good cricket. The standing in the table doesn't matter that much, you have to play good cricket. When we started, we knew it would be a tricky year for us. The players have put up their hands in tough situations and put their hands up. It is a fresh wicket, we would have liked to field as well. The more you play, the more you experience. The more you bowl, you become better with your lines and lengths, also as a batter you look good, I feel experience is what matters. The more you bowl and practice in the nets, it will show up in your game. When the ball swings, everyone is happy. When there is no swing, there is more need for control. I try to bowl close to the off-stump that time. I try to figure out what is the strong zone of the batter, I try to do something different to that. When you have played so many matches, you gain the ideas.
It's been bittersweet, would have liked to have my team in a better position at least to qualify for the playoffs, but I have been striking it nicely and hopefully that continues. We've been playing some brilliant cricket, it's just that we've been playing the key and crucial moments very poorly and that's been costing us games. Other than that, our bowling unit has been fantastic, couple of our batters are finding form which is good, little bit too late. Obviously another must-win for us, I think there's a 2% chance of us qualifying, but we are taking game by game. We've still got a lot to play, lot of pride to play for. For us to creep up on that board, we are not far off, so we might get onto those 14 points hopefully and then you never know what happens in the game. The boys are hurting but there's a lot of pride in this team and we'll definitely come out and try to get up the table as close as we can to get to the playoffs.
Sunrisers have won two in their last five games. They should at least have four games. They lost two close games against KKR and Capitals by five and seven runs, respectively.
Titans had a rare “flat” performance against Mumbai Indians.Barring Rashid Khan, who starred with both ball and bat against Mumbai Indians, the bowlers had a forgettable outing and no one had answers to the special hitting ability of Suryakumar Yadav. Before that, they had registered a back-to-back thumping wins against Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals. They choked against Capitals at home but had hammered KKR.
It's quite humid at the moment, quite hot. It's pitch number eight. Dimensions - 74 metres (square), just 58 metres on the other side, straight down the ground - 70 metres. It's a fresh surface, unused. There's a little bit of moisture, but it's a hot day, so this moisture will dry out in another couple of hours. There are certain spots a little darker than what the pitch colour generally is. Once the moisture dries out, good pitch to bat. It's all going to be about the batters in this contest.
The job of scoring 20 in five balls, or 30 in seven, is the very definition of a cameo, and is not possible to pull off every time. Titans have two games remaining. They will play their last home match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday and then will travel to Bangalore to face Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Sunrisers have three matches left. If they will lose against Titans, they will be eliminated from the tournament. They don’t have any easy games left as well. After today, they will lock horns against Sunrisers and then will face Mumbai Indians
Meanwhile, for Sunrisers, a loss will end their play-offs hope and it will be third time in a row when they will miss the bus. Even if Sunrisers happen to cause an upset, they will be barely alive, and dependent on other results for their own fortunes.
If Hardik Pandya’s team is able to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahemdabad, we finally will have a first team that would qualify for the play-offfs.

Titans’ left-arm quick Josh Little is still away on national duty, and is set to miss this match. He was part of the Ireland team that lost the three-match ODI series 2-0 against Bangladesh.
The handling of pacer Umran Malik by the SRH team management, who last played on April 29, has also been questioned. Umran Malik took five wickets in seven matches, but has been evry expensive. With team out from the contention, he might return to the playing XI.
