Things about to get harder for KKR as the Purple Cap holder Prasidh is brought into the attack. Powell with a single to start. Goes legside next and gives away a wide. KKR 48/3 after 7 overs
Last over of the powerplay and Rabada to bowl this one. Half hearted LBW appeal on Powell but does not last long. Takes a single and Green back on strike. Three dots to end. Not an ideal powerplay for the Knights.
KKR 37/3 after 6 overs
Siraj in to bowl the 5th over inside the powerplay and Green with a single to give strike to Rovman Powell who takes a single of his own. AAAND WOULD YOU KNOW IT!!! So Sunil Narine has been shuffled back down the order after just one match. And the Kiwi opener slams one through the covers for four runs!! Follows up with a single to give Rahane the strike. AAND HE'S GONE THE FIRST BALL. GETS IT ALL WRONG AS THE BALL TRAVELS HIGH. And it's taken by Rabada.
Ajinkya Rahane c Kagiso Rabada b Mohammed Siraj 0(1)
Kolkata Knight Riders: Varun Chakaravarthy, Finn Allen, Tejasvi Dahiya, Navdeep Saini, Manish Pandey
Gujarat Titans: Jason Holder, Shahrukh Khan, Manav Suthar, Kulwant Khejroliya, Anuj Rawat
KKR made one change as Tim Seifert was drafted into the team in place of Finn Allen while GT will go with the same team that defeated LSG.
Shubman Gill(c), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler(w), Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Ashok Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna
Tim Seifert, Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane(c), Cameron Green, Angkrish Raghuvanshi(w), Rovman Powell, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Anukul Roy, Vaibhav Arora, Kartik Tyagi
Gill: We wanted to bowl first, to be honest. There might be some dew around. Out batting collapsed in the middle in the last match. It should have been a comfortable chase otherwise. It's all about doing the simple things right. That always we talk about in team meetings. We are playing with the same team.
Rahane: Looking to bat first, want our batters to bat freely. We just want to turn it around, so batting first is a good option. If you are doing well, people will take well, otherwise they will critise. T20 format is all about momentum. One change, Seifert comes in for Allen.
It's time for the toss and the two captains are in the middle. The coin goes up and Kolkata win the toss and opt to bat first.
“Probably the biggest mistake KKR made this season was to make Andre Russell the coach and not use him as all-rounder. The ploy of keeping him in the KKR dug out and not letting other franchises buy him at auction hasn’t worked,” Kaif wrote on X. “Isn’t he still a better all-rounder than the Rs 25 cr Cameron Green? The answer is obvious.”
The Chepauk pitches have long moved on from the time when spinners licked their lips at the prospect of playing here. The low bounce has made way for good carry. There are hardly any dry patches for spinners to get the ball to grip and turn like a spitting cobra.
However, on Tuesday, the Chepauk of old resurfaced much to the liking of the hosts, who had to overcome the choke slam applied by Sunil Narine and Varun Charavarthy, both of whom did a splendid job in the middle overs. Defending 192, Chennai Super Kings spinners Noor Ahmad and Akeal Hosein delivered a masterclass of their own to fashion a 32-run win and keep Kolkata Knight Riders winless. (READ MORE)

Kolkata's Rs 25.20 crore signing Cameron Green hasn't had the best of starts in the IPL, failing to fire with the bat as well as the ball. However, KKR bowling coach Tim Southee reckons, the big Australian will bounce back eventually.
“He has not had the start he would’ve liked but he’s obviously a quality player,” bowling coach Tim Southee said after their latest loss to the Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk Stadium on Tuesday.
“He has not had a lot of cricket leading to the IPL. Of all people, he’ll be the most disappointed himself the way he’s started. But he’s a great cricketer and I’m sure he’ll bounce back at some stage in this tournament.”

The frantic phone calls Gautam Gambhir made to the KKR team management before the 2012 IPL auction had a request on the loop: “Even if you buy just one player, make sure it’s Sunil Narine.” To muttering sceptics, the KKR captain, himself a masterful destroyer of spinners, reasoned: “I couldn’t read his variations. I had no clue!”
The management eventually relented; their hot pursuit ended with a $7million cheque handed to the Trinidadian. Narine’s impact was instant, he orchestrated multiple title triumphs, chimed in with pinch-hitting at the top of the order, and 14 years on, remains a plummeting KKR’s bulwark.
The man Gambhir saw then is not the man he is now. He has sold his mystery, and the knuckleball with a cock-screw twist of his fingers remains the only vestige of his cryptic past; he has changed his action more frequently than the posh cars in his garage. He once held the ball over his head in his right hand, offering the batsman a good view of his grip, throwing a challenge, “read me if you can” as he whistled into the crease. (READ MORE)

KKR's indifferent season has coincided with Ajinkya Rahane's own struggles with the bat. While he has refreshingly been among the top Powerplay batters in the league since last year, Rahane's concerns against attacking spin and the middle-overs have been too large to ignore.
Former India captain Kris Srikkanth has questioned Rahane's spot in the XI as captain, insisting that he would ideally take a call over the Mumbaikar over the next few games.
"I'll give Ajinkya Rahane one or two chances more. If nothing changes, I'll drop him also and make Sunil Narine the captain midway through the season. Rahane should come into bat only if necessary. Else let him only captain the side. He shouldn't bat in the middle. 20. Making him the captain was the wrong move in the first place. But do they have the courage to make a strong move of dropping him now?" Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

Hello and welcome to the coverage of Match 25 of the IPL 2026. Two seasons in contrasting stretches of form go up agianst one another in Ahmedabad. While the Titans have found their rhythm after two defeats with as many wins, KKR have simply slipped from bad to worse over the first five games. The options across departmens look bleak for Rahane's men. Can they dream of a turnaround tonight?

Sunil Narine may not be the player he was in 2012 when Gautam Gambhir insisted on his acquisition, but through action changes and other modifications, remains a riddle for batters. READ MORE
