It is the Gujarat Giants who have ended up victorious in this game, but it was hard work. They have dominated for the most part, but during that middle phase when Litchfield and Sehrawat were batting, it did seem like things would get tricky but once those two were scalped, it was one-way traffic. That's it from us for today folks do join for out next game later in the evening between Mumbai and Delhi.

GG vs UPW WPL 2026 Match 2 – Live Cricket Score, Full Scorecard
Going into the season, both teams have appointed a new captain on their side. Giants went with Ashleigh Gardner as their captain, and in one of the remarkable moves, Warriorz went with Meg Lanning. Lanning has led the Captials for three consecutive seasons in the initial three seasons of the WPL.
Apart from the leaders, the Giants have given their top order a boost by adding Sophie Devine, Yastika Bhatia and Danni Wyatt-Hodge. Warriorz, meanwhile, seem to have achieved a good balance in their batting line-up with Kiran Navgire, with Harleen Deol and the uncapped Shweta Sehrawat – their only retention ahead of the season – the other top-order options.
Teams:
UP Warriorz Women (Playing XI): Deandra Dottin, Meg Lanning(c), Phoebe Litchfield, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Kiran Navgire, Shweta Sehrawat(w), Asha Sobhana, Sophie Ecclestone, Shikha Pandey, Kranti Gaud

UP Warriorz has lost wickets in clusters in this chase. If they could have managed to string on a few more partnerships with Litchfield through those middle overs, things might have looked a bit different for them. Regardless, it has been a good fight back from Warriorz given what they are chasing.
Well, Sehrwat has fallen here, and Phoebe Litchfield has fallen too. She tried to play the inside-out shot against Sophie Devine and got caught on the boundary. The momentum of this game seems to have changed yet again here. UP Warriorz could have done with a few more partnerships through the middle.
This is turning into a serious innings here from Litchfield, the ball is pinging off her bat, she is middling everything, and her stroke play has been quite brilliant. She is a bit Jos Buttler-like in her batting approach, the way she is going about, and the areas she is getting her runs away. Usually the conventional batters do tend to get those shots a lot more square. Has been quite a magnificent innings from her so far.
The counterassault is on here. Both Sherawat and Litchfield are taking the attack on to the Giants. It is a proper range, hitting from Sherawat since she has come. He is tall and has long-levers and getting enough behind her shots to clear the in-field and also a thing which is working out for UP is they have a left-hand and right-hand players in the middle which will allow them to target both sides of the boundaries.
Well, UP has lost three quick wickets in this chase Deepti Sharma was the last batter to fall, who tried to work the ball on the leg-side and got the leading edge straight back to Renuka. That passage of play for the Giants must see them get through this game. If UP gets anywhere closer to the target from here on that must be some bruatl power-hitting display from UP Warriorz from here on.
Litchfield is playing a cracking innings here. She is getting those boundaries away with minimal risk shots, and that is always a sign of a generational talent. And there is no introduction needed of her at this venue as she slammed a sublime ton during the World Cup semifinal against India. As we update, Meg Lanning has fallen. It was a bit of a nothing innings from her, and Warhem picks up Harleen Deol, too.
Litchfield is batting at a good clip. She is quite an off-side predominant player, and she has got her innings going quite nicely, but it is not just her that needs going, but her partner at the other end, Meg Lanning, too. At this point in time she is batting at 100 strike-rate and that needs to go up pretty quickly are the run-rate pressure will start to pile up on Warriorz pretty quickly.
Both Renuka and Kashvee have been able to swing through the air in those earlier overs and good on skipper Gardner who kept them in the attack unlike Meg Lanning who went in with over spells which can always be a double edged sword and in the afternoon we have seen UP coming on the wrongside of it.
Renuka Singh has picked up Navgire in that opening over. It is the worst possible start for the UP Warriorz. The ball swung back in as the batter tried to swing one across the line and lost her stumps. One thing about Renuka Singh is regardless of what is on offer in the surface she is able to get swing naturally through the air because of her wrist position.
It is going to be a tough chase for UP Warriorz; they will need a good start in the powerplay in the first six overs. For the Giants its all about scalping wickets. This is still a preety good batting strip and under lights it might get even better. Intresting chase coming up do stay with us.
To be honest I was a little nervous, but as I played 2-3 balls it went away. It was a great outing, I had great company as well, it was crucial to build a partnership at that time, me and Ash (Gardner) were talking about building a partnership and that went well for our team. It is more about mindset, how you read situations and react according to that, domestic season obviously helped a lot for me, the preparation also was on point as we have a great staff with us, they helped me so much with the areas where I can execute my boundaries and sixes. It is a very good total on this wicket and we have a great bowling side.
That is a gigantic total for the Gujarat Giants winning the toss and opting to bowl first, with the number of bowling at disposal Meg Lanning would not have anticipated them to give away these many runs. More than poor bowling, the wicket has been superb for the batters. Ash Gardner and Anushka Sharma have been quite superb through the middle overs, and their partnership was the key behind that score. Warriorz have a massive chase on their hands do stay with us to get all the updates.
Eccelstone picked up Ash Gardner here. The batter tried to hit across the line, and she missed it completely and got her stumps rattled. One thing Eccelstone has done today is bowl quicker and flatter and has been able to beat the batters through the pace and pick wickets. Neverthless it was a brilliant innings from Gardner she provided the impetus needed through the middle overs.
Well 100-run partnership has come to an end, and it is Anushka Sharma who finally perishes. Dottin did slip in the slower one under the bat through the day, and Anushka tried to time that one instead of using her power and ended up giving a straight catch to the long-on fielder. The stage is set for Giants they can make this score anything. Winning the toss and opting to bowl first Meg Lanning would be wondering if they should have batted first.
Asha Shobana has taken a bit of tapping in the previous over. She flighted the ball up, and Ash Gardner, who was striking at less than run-a-ball not too long ago, has gotten a few lovely sixes away. The power-hitting has been quite brutal from Gardner. As we update, Ash Gardner has gone past her half-century here. She has changed gears from one to five pretty quickly.
Anushka Sharma has looked good here since she walked in. He compsure has been top-notch, and in addition to that, she has also managed to pick her boundary areas quite smartly. Batting in the middle order is an important skill to have, which is to find the boundaries through the middle overs with risk-free cricket and mind you, she is in her debut and seems like quite a talent.
This does seem like a cracking cricket wicket here. The ball is coming beautifully onto the bat. Asha Shobana leg-spinner, has been brought into the attack, and she has been more inclined to beat the batters in the air and with the pace rather than trying to extract anything on the wicket. With the start, Gujarat has got they should be looking to get around 170-180 from here on this pitch.
Shikha Pandey bowled the final over of the powerplay and got rid of Sophie Devine. It was a fuller delivery, which the batter tried to squeeze through the mid-wicket boundary. Obviously, she would have wanted it go a bit finer than what it eventually did. She ended up giving a simple catch to cow-corner. Neverthless they have a platform do the Gujarat Giants to get a good score on the board.
Sophie Eccelstone has got rid of Beth Mooney here. She could have opted to cut the ball, as Mooney, but her attempt to pull the ball, she got beaten by the pace of the delivery and lost her off-stump. It was a pretty street-smart delivery from Eccelstone altough it was short on lenght it was rushed through, and it did manage to hit the top off-stump which is where Beth Mooney got beaten by the length.
Three overs into the innings, Meg Lanning has already opted to use three seamers here early on. There is not much from the surface, usually the games in the noon, the pitch tends to stick a bit, but today the ball has come in straight lines and does seem like a belter of a surface for GG to make the most of. Both Mooney and Devine time and again through their international career has shown time and again that they have the skill set to hit some hefty blows.
Kranti Gaud has taken the new ball for the Warriorz, and she did manage to start well. She has hit the ball in the right areas and both Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine who are in the middle managed to get a couple of singles away to get things underway in the opening over here.
"We are here for the first of two games today. We are on pitch number 4, two over from yesterday's game and it looks like a pretty good deck. The boundaries are 53 metres to my right, 58 to the left, and 66 metres straight down the ground. There’s good grass cover as well. We did see a little more turn than expected yesterday. It was the first game, so there were a few nerves around, but what really stood out to me was the death overs. RCB didn’t quite nail their execution at the back end, and the key area was right where we’re standing now. The strike rate from this length - the slot - was incredible. Batters moved down the pitch, bowlers missed their length, and anything in that danger zone went at over 200. If you pushed the length a little fuller, or went slightly back of a length with the slower ball, it was far more effective. So I’d be encouraging the UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants bowlers today to stay out of the slot and hit those fuller lengths - yorkers if you can - especially at the death," analyse Charles Dagnall and Kate Cross.

"I think one good ball in the last over - that’s all. Otherwise, I think we were in the game. We did everything that was needed to win this match, but except for that last over. If we could have bowled one good ball, we could have won the match. Well, in the WPL, we always get matches like this. And we know that if we keep thinking about this game, it’s not going to help us tomorrow. So I think we just need to learn from this match and think about how we can do better in the next one," she added.
"Well, we know that she (de Klerk) has the capacity to score whatever runs are needed in the last over. But yeah, I think we just didn’t bowl one good ball, which was needed in the last over. Sometimes this happens. We gave her two or three chances and when you keep giving a batter chances, they always come back with an even stronger mindset. So yeah, we can’t say the last over didn’t go our way - we got a few chances, but we missed them," Harman said after the match

WPL 2026: Nadine de Klerk atones World Cup heartbreak, punishes sloppy MI as RCB win opening-night thriller

In a sensational start to WPL 2026, South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk pulled off an improbable heist to lead RCB to a three-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians. With 18 runs needed off the final over, de Klerk overcame two initial dot balls to smash 6, 4, 6, 4 off the last four deliveries against Nat Sciver-Brunt. Her unbeaten 63 (44) and earlier bowling figures of 4/26 rescued RCB from a mid-innings collapse, marking one of the most dominant all-round performances in the tournament's history.
