David Warner is all set for a stint in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after signing for the Sylhet Sixers. Warner, who had earlier plies his trade in the in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in the early part of 2018, made the announcement in a video posted on Sixers’ official Facebook page on Friday. Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane is also a part of the same team.
“I’m very excited to let you know that I’m now a Sixer. I can’t wait to be a part of the Sylhet Sixers family. See you soon!” Warner said in the video. Warner is currently still serving the one-year ban from international and domestic cricket meted out to him by Cricket Australia for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal that broke out in Newlands earlier this year.
Confirming the development Sixers CEO Yasir Obaid spoke to Cricbuzz and said, “We believe he is a player of great impact especially when it comes to T20 cricket. ‘He is a player with wealth of experience when it comes to handling the pressure of Twenty20 cricket and we are excited to have him in our dressing room.”
Bangladesh opener Liton Das has also been signed by the Sixers.
