CPL 2020, Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Highlights:

22:50 (IST)03 Sep 2020
Match abandoned

The word is finally in. This match has been called off. 1 point each to the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs. All we had today was a 46-run opening stand between Evin Lewis and Chris Lynn.

The Brian Lara Lake

Looks like both sides will be getting a point apiece from today's affair. Look at Ben Dunk go! Just not sure whether he is in Michael Phelps's sport or Usain Bolt's.

Heavy rain

Bad news from the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. The rain has been coming down in torrential showers for the last hour. There has been a bit of a let-up in the showers in the last few minutes but the outfield is sogged. Glistening under the floodlights. We have already lost overs, but at this point, it looks it will be a miraculous effort to get the ground ready for play any time soon.

Rain halts play

Mujeeb goes for runs in his second over after a change of ends. Chris Lynn manages to get three perfect connections. 4,4,6 to end the over as the Queenslander cuts loose against the Afghan. 17 runs from the 5th over. Evin Lewis steps out to Permaul and lofts him for another six down the ground. The openers are hitting fifth gear because of the rain and DLS threat. And after that ball, the umpires wave the players off, with rain having come down. SNP 46/0 after 5.4 overs

Good start by spinners

6 runs from the 3rd over as Edwards continues. The Tallawahs go to left arm spinner Permaul. Lynn struggles to read the turn against him too. Lofts a mistimed shot just over mid off to end the 4th over. The clouds are darkening and the ground staff are lingering with the covers, ready to come on when required. SNP 23/0 after 4

19:39 (IST)03 Sep 2020
Mujeeb starts well, as does Evin Lewis

Lewis ends the first over with a couple of boundaries - the first lofted over long on and the second placed with a clip off the pads. Mujeeb ur Rahman bowls an excellent first over. Squares up Lynn with some big turn. Lot of turn on offer as this is the third consecutive matchday on the same pitch. SNP 13/0 after 2

19:32 (IST)03 Sep 2020
Match begins

Lynn and Lewis, the two Patriots openers, stride out. Vital for the Patriots that they fire. Runs have not come from many sources for them this season, important that the two big guns fire. Fidel Edwards bowls the 1st over.
