After his World T20 heroics to clinch the tournament for the second time for West Indies, Carlos Brathwaite was in for a surprise and loud welcome by fans in Delhi. Part of the Delhi Daredevils squad for the upcoming Indian Premier League, Brathwaite touched down in the capital after the all-rounder hit four consecutive sixes in the final over of the T20 World Cup at Eden Gardens on Sunday to take West Indies to victory in the most dramatic and thrilling way.

But with focus shifting to the IPL, Brathwaite and many other players have started to join in with their respective teams to get ready for the cash rich league.

Right after changing to a Delhi Daredevils shirt outside the hotel in Delhi, Brathwaite was received with a packed lobby with fans, hotel staff and team staff singing and dancing to the catchy ‘Champions’ video that has been West Indies’ anthem – so to speak – this past month. Post that, the big man posed for selfies calmly and all smiles before walking off for the press briefing.

When Brathwaite was picked by Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 4.2 crores against his brace price of Rs. 30 lakh, many eyebrows were raised, including by the player himself. It is understandable given that it was his first auction but now after his big hitting with the West Indies, maybe the price is justified.
