Bangladesh vs Afghanistan 3rd ODI, Scorecard and updates: AFG win third ODI and series 2-1

Afghanistan have the rub of the green here! 

Nabi got an edge off that ball while trying to steer the ball on the leg side. The ball rises in the air, but it was over backward point and races away ot the boundary. 

And if that boundary was lucky, Nabi's next four off the next ball itself is classy! He slapped the ball from Mustafizur towards square leg. 

50 run partnership up! And Afghanistan need just 6 runs fromn two overs. 

What a time to get a boundary! An even better time to get two!

AFG needed 26 runs off 24, and on the first ball of the 47th over, bowleed by Bangladesh's pick of the evening Nahid Rana, Nabi slaps the ball over mid on for a boundary. A few deliveries later, he punishes the debutant with another boundary, this one coming off extra cover.

AFG need 16 runs off 18 balls

Afghan batters sneaking in singles and twos in the 46th over there. 

On the fifth ball, Nabi tried to flick it away, instead got a leading edge that flew over point. Nabi called for two runs and is lucky that the throw from the boundary is not a good one.

On the next ball, Nabi knocks it down the pitch past Mustafizur and he and Azmatullah Omarzai run a quick one. Seven runs off the over.

Afghanistan need 26 in 24 balls now!

With the pressure creeping up, Omarzai goes down on one knee and sends that ball from Mehidy Hasan Miraz past the midwicket fence for a maximum. 

Afghanistan now need 33 runs from 31 balls to seal the series. Omarzai is batting on 60, Nabi on 10.

Afghanistan have reached the 200-run milestone and now need 45 runs from 39 balls with five wickets in hand. 

Nabi and Omarzai in the middle. While the latter is already past the half century mark, Nabi is still to get his eye in. 

As Gurbaz departs after a well-made century, Omarzai who crafted this fightback from Afghanistan along with Gurbaz is still in the middle fighting it out. The team is now starign at a required rate of one run per ball with five wickets down. 

But in Omarzai's presence in the middle, the Afghan team still has hope. 

Afghanistan lose their 5th wicket as debutant Nahid Rana once again gets a breakthrough when his side needed it. 

Gulbadin Naib tries to slash the ball over mid wicket. In the process, he got an edge and the ball flew high. It looked like wicketkeeper Jaker Ali would have trouble hanging on to it, but he does manage to grab it after a dive. 

Afghanistan are 188/5 now with the required run rate almost at run a ball now. 

What a blow for Afghanistan! Just after their in-form batter Gurbaz got to his century, he falls after trying to hit a ball from Mehidy Hasan Miraz over the fence by finding Zakir Hasan at the deep square leg fence. 

Gurbaz departs with Afghanistan needing 61 runs from 68 balls. This partnership between Gurbaz and Omarzai took Afghanistan from 84/3 to 184/4.

And the ton is just when Afghanistan needed it most desperately. He got to his 99 with massive six straight over the head of bowler Soumya Sarkar! But then opts to place the ball and get a quick single to reach the three-figure mark! 

A new ball will be needed as Omarzai sends a ball from Miraz out of the stadium!

Omarzai had two ducks in the previous two matches in this series with just four deliveries faced in the two ODIs. But he's coming good when Afghanistan needed him the most! He's already on 36 runs. And in quick time too! 

A great response from Omarzai on the first ball of the 36th over to the maiden in the previous over. 

Just when the scoreboard pressure was starting to creep up on the Afghan batters, Azmatullah sends a ball from Mustafizur into the stands and four balls later it's Gurbaz who sends the first ball from the 34th over by Mehidy Hasan Miraz into the stands at midwicket. 

And in between those two shots, Afghanistan have brought up their 150! 

Drinks break here at the Sharjah Cricket Academy in Sharjah. Gurbaz and Omarzai are still in the middle and it looks like if they stay together in the middle even for five more overs, the chasing team would get to the target of 245 with a canter. 

Bangladesh trying their best to break this partnership. The ploy to bring on Nasum and Nahid did not yield any wickets. And they're both off now as the captain tries to save them for the final overs. 

Mustafizur is called back into the attack and bowls his 6th over without incident. At the other end, Miraz will bowl his 6th over after the drinks break. 

Afghanistan need 112 runs off 132 balls with seven wickets in hand. The fate of the series is on the line here. They have the set Rahmanullah Gurbaz playing on 79 runs with Azmatullah Omarzai (batting on 17 from just 21 balls) for company in the middle. 

Gurbaz and Omarzai have stitched a 50-run partnership here. 

Heading towards exciting finish this one. 

Nasum Ahmed, who hasd gone 5-1-15-0 in his first spell, is brought back into the attack as bangladesh sense that the batters in the middle are looing to accelerate and are comfortable with the bowling on offer. The debutant Nahid Rana, whose five overs at the start of the innings went for just 13 runs with one maiden and a wicket, is also back into the attack at the other end. 

Another maximum, the second six in the span of four balls for Afghanistan. They've certainly received the memo that the scoring rate needs to be upped.

This time, it's Shoriful who is punished by Gurbaz for a short ball. The batter negotiated that ball with such ease, swivelling and slapping the ball over the square leg boundary. 

Mehidy Hasan Miraz bowls a fuller one to Azmatullah Omarzai, who responds by nailing the ball with a slogsweep over deep midwicket. WHAT A SHOT! 

And two balls later, Miraz goes down with a cramp on his left leg. Addign injury to insult here for the bowler. He does eventually rise and is fit to bowl out his final delivery. 

AFG 110/3 after 23.5 overs 

Gurbaz has had at least four reprieves tonight and has made it count with an unbeaten knock of 60 even as wickets have fallen regularly at the other end. Thanks to his cut shot that races to the boundary, Afghanistan crawl over the 100-run mark in the 23rd over. 

The required run rate is steadily trickling up. Afghanistan need a partnership and an explosion of runs. 

Afghanistan lose their third wicket! 

Mustafizur Rahman has his second wicket of the night as Hashmatullah Shahidi departs! And thsi is the third time in the series that Mustafizur had dismissed Shahidi.

Soumya Sarkar in the slips grabs a catch as Hashmatullah Shahidi's stint ends after six runs off 21 balls. Omarzai walks out!

AFG slump to 84/3

Mustafizur Rahman strikes for Bangladesh as they have their second wicket! Mustafizur Rahman digs in a short ball into the body of Rahmat Shah. The batter tries to pull the ball. The ball gets to him faster than he anticipated and he gets a top edge. The ball floats into the air and Mustafizur Rahman claims it with ease. 

Jonathan Trott shakes his head in disbelief in the Afghanistan dugout at the manner of the dismissal.

Afghanistan are 63/2 after 14 overs.

Mustafizur Rahman was bowling a great first over. His first four balls had gine for just the one run. Then, on the fifth ball, he managed to induce an edge from Rahmanullah Gurbaz. It was a length ball on the pads. Gurbaz was trying to hit it on the leg side, but the ball meets the edge of the bat and flies to point. The fielder dived full stretch ahead, but the ball fell just short. 

And to make matters worse for Mustafizur Rahman,the final ball of the over is tonked for a maximum.

Mustafizur Rahman is introduced into the attack in the 12th over and off his second ball, Afghanistan reach the 50-run mark. 

The Afghan batters will be glad to see the debutant Nahid Rana be rested, with his laser-guided short of length balls bowled with fiery pace! 

Just one run from that over by debutant Nahid Rana. He's consistently keeping the Afghanistan batters on a leash here. He's bowled half his quota of overs and has given away just 13 runs. 

AFG 45/1 after 10 overs

... and what a delivery! The debutant Nahid Rana has his first wicket. He bowled a 147.9 kmph scorcher that was slightly short of a good length. The ball swings inside and Atal misses the line. The ball whooshes past his inside edge and kisses the top of the stumps.

Bangladesh have a breakthrough.

Sediqullah Atal's slow and steady stay in the middle ends after 14 runs off 18 balls. 

AFG 41/1 after 7.4 overs

Bangladesh debutant Nahid Rana is doing really well here. Of the three overs he has bowled tonight, he has given away just six runs. One of those overs -- his second -- was a maiden, and he gave away just two runs in the third over. In sharp contrast, at the other end, Shoriful Islam has conceded 24 runs in his three overs. 

Understandably, Bangladesh have handed Nasum Ahmed the ball.

Just like in the last over, Gurbaz dances down the track and heaves the ball over the ropes. It was a 132.6kph inswinger. What does Gurbaz do? Flicks it with nonchalance over deep backward square leg. 

Afghan batters clearly targetting Shoriful Islam here rather than the debutant at the other end.

Bangladesh handed debutant Nahid Rana the ball from the other end. After giving away just six runs in his first over (Afghanistan's second), he comes up with a maiden in his second.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz faced all six balls from that over from the debutant and clearly was not tempted to replicate that glorious shot he played against Shoriful Islam in the third over which flew high over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum.

For Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sediqullah Atal will begin the chase. Shoriful Islam starts the proceedings with the ball. 

And just when it looked like the first over would be a quiet one, Rahmanullah Gurbaz slaps a ball from Shoriful Islam past square leg for a boundary.

Shriful is the new man in and he puts Mahmudullah on strike with a single!! He also goes off strike with a single and Shoriful returns the favour of the 5th delivery. Now, he needs 3 from 1 to get his 100. He can't as Mahmudullah is finally run out!! No century. BAN 244/8 after 50 overs

Last over now and Mahmudullah wi on strike. Just 4 away from his 5th ODI ton. And there's a leg bye to start. Nasum Ahmed now on strike and he's gone!! Claen bowled by Azmatullah.

Fazalhaq Farooqi in to bowl the next one and Mahmudullah smashes him for a six off the second delivery. Follows that up with 2 singles. Two more and single as Mahmudullah moves to 97 runs. BAN 239/6 after 49 overs

Azmatullah in to bowl the 48th and Mahmudullah tries to bring out a big hit but gets just a single. Jaker Ali on strike now and there's a huge shout for caught behind. The umpire says no and Shahidi will review. And yes. there's a clear spike on the UltraEdge and Ali has to depart.

Rashid Khan in the attack now and he appeals for a big LBW on Mahmudullah and it's given. The Bangladesh batter reviews though. And it's missing the leg stump. Great review by Mahmudullah. Takes 2 next and gets dropped by Rashid. Was hit hard and Rashid couldn't hold on to it!! BAN 223/5 after 47 overs

Azmatullah in to bwol the next and Mehidy strikes him for back to back boundaries as he looks to step up the tempo. Why should Mahmudullah have all the fun? Takes a single and Mahmudullah is back on strike. Takes 2 from the 4th delivery and then takes a single. And Mehidy is gone!!! He tries a big hit and is caught by Gulbadin. At long last, the partnership is broken!!

Before the 45th over, Mahmudullah is on the ground again as the physio is checking on him. Can't blame him. Batting in this Sharjah heat can get pretty difficult. He gets up though and will face Rashid. 2 singles from the first 3 deliveries as the singles keep coming. Mahmudullah folows them up with a well-struck 4 to bring up BAN's 200!! Allah Ghazanfar in the attack and he is welcomed by Mahmudullah with a boundary!!! Meanwhile, Rashid Khan is off the field. Back to back singles next as the BAN batters rapidly rotate strikes. 9 from this over ultimately.  BAN 197/4 after 44 overs

Over number 43 now and Rashid Khan will bowl this one. Starts with a wide and a single. And he has gone down, maybe with cramps as Shahidi helps him stretch out. He looks ok to continue and yields 5 from this one. BAN 188/4 after 43 overs

Allah Ghazanfar back in the attack and Mehidy takes a single to start. Mahmudullah on strike and he smashes the youngster for a 4!! The fielder at sweeper cover can do nothing to stop it. BAN 183/4 after 42 overs

Nabi in to bowl the 41st over and his last. Starts with a leg bye to Mehidy and Mahmudullah with a single off his own off the third. A brief breakin play again as Rashid has some problem with his bowling hand thumb. And with a single, Mehidy gets to his 50!! Mahmudullah ends the over with a towering six!! BAN 175/4 after 41 overs

On to the 40th over now and Mahmudullah is just one run away from 50. Nangeyalia Kharote to bowl this over and Mehidy is on strike. He takes a single and Mahmudullah can get his 50 with a single the next delivery. A wellplayed half century to bail BAN out of trouble. BAN 166/4 after 40 overs

Nangeyalia Kharote is back in the attack and after 2 dots, Mahmudullah slaps the third delivery for a four!! Takes a single next to put Mehidy on strike. 2 dots to end. BAN 161/4 after 38 overs

Rashid in to bowl his 7th over and it's business as usual for him as the Bangladesh batters tread with caution. Just 2 runs from this over ultimately. BAN 153/4 after 36 overs

Nabi to bowl the next over and he yields 3 singles from the first 5 deliveries before Mahmudullah dances down the track and smashes a hige six over deep midwicket!!! That's what Bangladesh needed. BAN 151/4 after 35 overs

We are back from the drinks break and Rashid Khan has been brought back into the attack. Mahmudullah with a single to start this one off before Mehidy faces 3 dots. He finally gets 2 off the 5th ball and Mahmudullah with a single to retain strike for the next over. BAN 142/4 after 34 overs

Nabi continues and refuses to release any pressure as Mehidy stays rooted in his crease for 5 deliveries. He can't get a run from this one as well as Nabi bowls another maiden over. Bangladesh 137/4 after 33 overs

Fazalhaq Farooqi in to bwol the next over and after a couple of dots, Mahmudullah places the next one for two runs. The over gets better for the visitors with Mahmudullah cutting the 4th ball for a beautiful boundary!! First one in 28 deliveries. BAN 137/4 after 32 overs

Nabi to bowl the 31st over and the two batters are keeping Bangladesh steady in the middle. 3 dots to start this one. Doesn't get any better for BAN in this one as it ends with a maiden. BAN 130/4 after 31 overs

Nabi is back to bowl the next over and starts with a wide before Mahmudullah takes asingle to get off strike. Mehidy with a single to return the favour and Mahmudullah gets 2 more next ball. 5 from this over. BAN 121/4 after 27 overs

We are half way done and Bangladesh are looking to rebuild their innings. Ghazanfar is back for the 26th. can he snap up a wicket and break this partnership? Gives away 3 from the first 5 deliveries before ending the over with another 1. BAN 116/4 after 26 overs

On to the 23rd over and Bangladesh are just a few runs off 100. Nangeyalia Kharote in to bowl the next over and after 2 runs and a four off the last delivery, the 100 is up. BAN 105/4 after 24 overs

Rashid in the attack again and after a dot, Mehidy tries to smash him but gets an edge for a 4 off the second delivery!! Not where he intended but Bangladesh won't mind. Oh dear me!! Another mix up in the middle and there's a run out appeal. But the batter looks to be in. And it's confirmed by the giant screen displaying 'NOT OUT'. BAN 92/4 after 21 overs

Mahmudullah looks to be in slight discomfort now and he is calling the physio after getting rapped on the thigh by that quick delivery by Nangeyalia Kharote. He is holding his back and is getting checked by the doctor. He finally gets back to his feet and looks ok to continue. Just a single from this over. BAN 87/4 after 20 overs

Rashid in the attack to bwol his 3rd over and Mehidy gets a thick edge, evades the slips and that's a 4!! The next couple of balls are dots before Mehidy takesa  single to keep strike for the next over. BAN 86/4 after 19 overs

Nangeyalia Kharote in to bowl the 18th and Mehidy Hasan Miraz mines 2 runs from the first 4 deliveries as the Afghanistan bowlers keep applying the pressure. A single to end and 3 from this over. BAN 81/4 after 18 overs

Rashid Khan in the attack now as the crowd roars its approval. Gets turn straightaway as Towhid Hridoy swings and misses. The next ball also bamboozles the batter and flies just away from the willow's edge. AND HE STRIKES!!! Hridoy did not know what hit him. He tries to defend and the ball flies off the outside edge and Gulbadin takes the catch.

Azmatullah in to bowl the next over and a horrible mixup in the middle leads to Bangladesh losing another wicket!!! BAN are falling apart at the moment!! Excellent throw to hit the non-striker's wicket and Zakir Hasan has to walk back.
