Australia vs West Indies Highlights, 3rd T20: WI thump AUS, prevent series whitewash with 37-run win

A touch too late but David does pummel Joseph over long-on for SIX. Another SIX! Joseph sprays the ball towards David's hips and he nonchalantly flicks it over square-leg for a huge maximum. He retains strike with a single. AUS 171/5 in 19 overs

Shepherd lines one just outside the off-stump but Maxwell slices it cheekily past short-third for FOUR. WICKET! Shepherd nails the yorker that hits the root of the leg-stump. Nothing that Maxwell could have done to dig that one out and West Indies is well on course to earn a win here. 10 and a wicket from the over. AUS 156/5 in 18 overs, needs 65 runs in 12 balls.

Short from Holder and David gets a top-edge over the keeper for FOUR. He follows up with a single. Maxwell gets into the act as he drags a wide delivery through mid-wicket for FOUR. Holder pays for his poor length with another SIX as David effortlessly lifts the ball from the slot. AUS 146/4 in 17 overs

Maxwell gets fidgety and attempts a reverse-scoop off Joseph but misses. The pressure builds with three dots. Steep bounce and Maxwell mistimes a flick and the leading-edge just falls short of the point fielder. 

Shepherd concedes a boundary to David but restricts the batters to ones and twos thereafter. West Indies would not mind this at all as Maxwell and David are yet to find their feet in this uphill chase. AUS 125/4 in 15 overs

WICKET! Chase lands the big blow as he packs Warner for 81. Warner attempts a huge slog-sweep to the far end and finds Russell waiting with his bucket hands. A brilliant knock comes to an end and Australia find themselves in some trouble.WICKET! Chase has another! Inglis taps a length ball straight back and Chase lunges to his left and completes a fine catch. West Indies assume control in a matter of minutes. AUS 117/4 in 14 overs

Shepherd removes Hardie to break the partnership. Hardie was struggling to get a move on and loses his stumps in the bid to slog hard. Josh Inglis walks in at 4 to join Warner who has moved into the 80s. AUS 116/2 in 13 overs

Warner and Hardie disrupt Hosein with a couple of FOURs as the asking rate begins to shoot up. Warner can pretty well see a second T20I ton on the horizon.

Warner continues to keep himself busy at the crease and brings out a reverse-paddle boundary to put Chase off his line. AUS 98/1 in 10 overs.

Hosein lands one on the length and Warner whacks the ball over mid-wicket for FOUR. A slew of singles to follow. 10 from the over. AUS 89/1 in 9 overs

Chase enters the attack. Hardie paddles a loosener behind fine-leg for FOUR but Chase varies his lengths deftly to concede only seven in his opening over. AUS 79/1 in 8 overs

Warner pumps Akeal Hosein for a SIX first ball and gets to his 26th T20I half-century off just 25 deliveries! A single to follow. WICKET! Hosein gets Marsh. The skipper mistimes a slog and sends the ball straight to Holder in the deep. Aaron Hardie walks in at 3.

Holder rolls one in on length and Warner swipes it behind square-leg off one knee for a massive SIX. Marsh takes the aerial route and lifts the ball just over Russell at mid-on to find a boundary. AUS 61/0 in 6 overs.

Warner gets on top of the bounce generated by Romario Shepherd and smacks two FOURs in succession. Shepherd corrects his length and keeps the batters in check.10 from the over. AUS 47/0 in 5 overs.

Warner greets Andre Russell with a frustrating top-edge for SIX. Nasty! Warner cops a hard blow to the side of his face off a top-edge from the blade. The physio is out to check on him for a concussion. He regains composure and resumes batting. A fraction of room and Warner delicately dabs the ball behind point for FOUR. AUS 37/0 in 4 overs.

Full and straight from Joseph and Warner drills it past the bowler for FOUR. Joseph finds a thick outside-edge but it flies over the slip-cordon for FOUR. A single to follow. Joseph errs on line again and Marsh hooks him over fine-leg for FOUR. AUS 26/0 in 3 overs

Jason Holder operates from the opposite end. Holder sends in a short ball and Warner hooks the ball behind square for FOUR. Holder attempts a slower-ball and Warner misses out while attempting a reverse-ramp. AUS 11/0 in 2 overs

Joseph starts with a cracking delivery that whizzes past Marsh's outside-edge to the 'keeper. Joseph drags his length back and rushes the ball over Marsh's shoulder. Length from Joseph and Marsh opens his account with a pull for FOUR through mid-wicket. Stifled appeal from the ring fielders as Joseph slides the ball and Warner gets a faint inside-edge. AUS 6/0 in 1 over

David Warner and skipper Mitch Marsh have walked out to the middle for the chase. Alzarri Joseph takes the new ball. 

West Indies were staring at another quick collapse at the fall of the fifth wicket for 79 in the ninth over but Andre Russell and Sherfane Rutherford fashioned a remarkable comeback. The duo charged in phases and accumulated 12 sixes together while registering their respective fifties. 

Width from Johnson and Russell stands tall and wallops it over cover for FOUR. Slower ball in the slot and Russell waits on it and launches it just over Maxwell at long-off for SIX! WICKET. Russell falls this time as he mistimes the slog to the deep. Easy catch for Maxwell as an entertaining knock comes to an end. Russell and Rutherford have set the highest T20I stand for the sixth wicket (139). 

West Indies sets a 221-run target for Australia!

Short from Zampa again and Russell muscles it over long-on for another SIX. He draws the ball outside Russell's arc and gets away with a loosener. Russell swats another short delivery off the back-foot and finds a reprieve as Tim David fails to latch onto a stiff chance at deep mid-wicket. The ball rolls on for FOUR runs. Full-toss and Russell blasts the ball down the ground for another SIX! FIFTY for Dre Russ! He crunches a slider over cover for SIX. Zampa registers his worst T20I bowling figures (1/65).

Behrendorff angles the ball in towards the hips and Rutherford blitzes it behind square for a cracking SIX! Slower delivery on length outside the off-stump and Rutherford parries the ball over point for FOUR. Rutherford reels in two more runs as he digs out a yorker towards deep mid-wicket. WI 179/5 in 18 overs

Off-cutter from Hardie but Rutherford gets enough wood on the ball to slap it through mid-off for FOUR. Hardie overpitches and Rutherford creams it through point for another FOUR. Maiden T20 fifty for Rutherford off 33 balls as he guides Hardie past wide first-slip for FOUR. The left-hander has made up for his sluggish start in some style. WI 165/5 in 17 overs

Wide on length and Rutherford flays Johnson behind point with a one-handed SIX! SIX more! Johnson angles one in and Rutherford shuffles across and laps it over fine-leg for a maximum. WI 150/5 in 16 overs

Bartlett maintains a fine line of attack at the stumps and sends a short ball to Rutherford who vigorously pulls it through wide long-on for FOUR. Bartlett completes his quota of four overs with five to go. WI 136/5 in 15 overs

Short and wide from Zampa, Russell drills it over wide mid-off for FOUR. A couple of singles follow. Russell misses out on a low full-toss and only finds a run down to deep mid-wicket. Eight from the over as Russell and Rutherford raise their 50-run partnership. WI 130/5 in 14 overs

The pressure continues to mount on the batters. Hardie varies his pace and lengths to keep Rutherford stranded at the crease. A couple of dots and Rutherford charges but Hardie deftly lands a wide yorker. Length from Hardie and Rutherford connects with a brilliant swing through square-leg for SIX. WI 122/5 in 13 overs

Behrendorff returns. He constricts Rutherford with a sharp line around the stumps. Three dots on the trot. Rutherford gets off strike with a quick single. Behrendorff sends in a fine yorker and Russell manages to dig it out towards backward point for a single. WI 113/5 in 12 overs

Zampa drags the ball short and Rutherford hangs back in his crease and pulls it over wide long-on for SIX. A single to follow. Zampa hits the slot and Russell smokes it over long-on for a massive SIX! A rare no-ball from Zampa as he sends one way over the waist-line, free hit. Zampa drifts the ball past Rutherford and winds him to the crease. 18 from the over. WI 110/5 in 11 overs

Spencer Johnson floors Russell with a searing bouncer that hits him flush on the left palm. He is in some pain as the physio walks in. Russell attempts to break free with a swat through mid-on but finds the fielder. Johnson offers some width but Russell fails to connect once again. Back-of-a-length, Russell swivels and pulls the ball in front of square for FOUR. BANG! Another quick bumper but Dre Russ gets on top of it and sends it sailing into the stands behind square-leg for SIX.

Hardie overpitches and Powell digs it out through mid-off for FOUR. Hardie comes from wide of the crease and beats Powell's outside-edge.WICKET! The line outside the off-stump works for Hardie. Powell attempts to tap a length ball down to third but gets a faint tickle and wicketkeeper Wade does the rest! WI 80/5 in 9 overs

Adam Zampa replaces Johnson. Chase hits the first ball through sweeper cover for a single. Powell steps out to convert a loosener into a full-toss and pummels it down the ground for FOUR. Zampa drags the ball short and Powell paddles it down leg for another FOUR. Chase and Powell raise the 50-run stand in quick time. WICKET! Zampa responds with the quicker one skidding through length. Chase plays all around it and loses his stumps. WI 73/4 in 8 overs

Aaron Hardie squares up Rovman Powell as he attempts a wild slog across the line, nearly losing his middle-stump in the process. Hardie follows up with a quick bouncer as Powell ducks past it. Powell goes across the line and attempts a ramp but gets a leading edge towards the edge of the circle on the on-side. WI 62/3 in 7 overs 

Spencer Johnson is into the attack for the last over of the PowerPlay. Short ball outside the off-stump and Chase dabs the ball to deep cover and the pair runs FOUR in a T20I at Perth! Streaky but Chase finds another FOUR off the inside-edge as Johnson tightens his line. WI 55/3 in 6 overs

Short ball from Bartlett and Chase slaps it through mid-wicket for FOUR. Straighter delivery on length and Chase lifts it over the bowler for another FOUR. A couple of singles to follow. Bartlett sends in a quick bumper and Chase hooks it over short fine-leg for a SIX. 17 runs from the over! WI 45/3 in 5 overs

Behrendorff attempts to slide the ball in and Chase picks the ball up from length and nonchalantly pumps it over mid-on for SIX! A touch of width on offer and Chase taps the ball to mid-off and sets off on a quick single and surives a direct-hit at the non-striker's end. WI 28/3 in 4 overs

Kyle Mayers gets a move with a couple of fours, including a wristy flick behind square-leg but Bartlett serves up an excellent response. He draws his length back and finds an inside-edge on the bounce from Mayers onto the stumps. Captain Rovman Powell walks in at 5.

Jason Behrendorff strikes in his first over.  Pooran departs cheaply again and West Indies lose their second wicket in the second over. 

Some debut for Xavier Bartlett. He was welcomed with a boundary by Jhonson Charles. The hit smashed Charles helmet and got him out the next ball, the wild heave was caught by Matthew Wade. Charles walks back. WI: 4/1 

Marcus Stoinis is talking to the broadcasters:  "I tweaked my back in the warm-up in Adelaide and got through the game. But the long flight to Perth didn't help so I'm resting tonight. It's a beautiful wicket. Expecting lots of big sixes. High scoring. No issues."

Glenn Maxwell needs two sixes to equal the record for most sixes for Australia in T02Is.

"Bartlett comes in for his debut which is awesome and Aaron Hardie comes in for Stoinis. Josh Hazlewood is probably at the pub at home having a rest. But exciting for those guys. We've obviously batted really well. West Indies batting has put under a lot of pressure but I like the way we've gone about our business. We've remained calm and enjoyed it."

Rovman Powell has won the toss and the West Indies will be batting first against Australia in the third T20I in Perth.

Australia batter David Warner on Friday played his 100th T20I match and scored 70 runs to help his team to an 11-run win over West Indies at the Bellerive Oval. Warner, who was also adjudged the man of the match, hit 12 fours and 1 six en route to his 70 which took 36 balls. He was ultimately caught out by Nicholas Pooran off Alzarri Joseph’s bowling. “Pleasing to get the win on the board. Was a nice wicket to bat on and you have to make the most of those. Feel great and refreshed, I’m pumped. I want to play the T20 World Cup and finish there. It’s a good journey we’ve got going for the next 6 months.
