Suryakumar Yadav-led India romped to a 41-run win against Bangladesh on Wednesday to qualify for the Asia Cup final on September 28. India’s win means that Sri Lanka, with back to back losses, were eliminated while Pakistan and Bangladesh will meet again on Thursday with the winner joining India in the final.
On Tuesday, Pakistan bounced back from their loss to India on Sunday with a five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka which helped them rise to second spot in the Super 4 standings at the Asia Cup. Bowling first, Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed three wickets while Haris Rauf and Hussain Talat claimed two wickets each to restrict Sri Lanka to a score of 133/8. Only Kamindu Mendis could manage a half century for the island nation on the day. In return, Pakistan almost stumbled through the chase, before a unbeaten stand of 58 runs off 41 between Hussain Talat and Mohammad Nawaz helped them knock off the runs needed for victory.
