Pakistan vs Bangladesh Highlights: Shaheen Afridi bowls out the Tigers to hand Pakistan win

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Highlights: Imad Wasim's hundred and Shaheen Afridi's six wickets helped Pakistan to win against bangladesh by 94 runs.

Theoretically, Pakistan still have a chance to qualify for World Cup 2019 semifinals

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Highlights: Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 94 runs after Shaheen Afridi took six wickets to bundle up Bangladesh for 221. The 19-year-old pacer became the youngest to take a World Cup fifer.

Bangladesh were in the chase when Shakib al Hasan (64) was on the crease, but after he was dismissed they crumbled down. Shaheen Afridi, who took 6 wickets was the star of the Pakistan bowling attack. Tamim Iqbal (22), Liton Das (32) and Mahmudullah (29) tried to fight initially, but their efforts were not upto the mark. But also in defeat, Bangladesh officially knocked Pakistan out of the race for the World Cup semifinals. Pakistan had put up 315 runs in their 50 overs. They needed to bowl out Bangladesh for 7 runs or less to overhaul New Zealand’s net run rate. More realistically, they need to defend 315 for victory.

After losing Fakhar Zaman early on 13, Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq helped Pakistan regain control as the duo scored their respective half-centuries. They added 157 runs for the second wicket. Saifuddin got the breakthrough as Azam fell for 96. He missed out on his second World Cup century. Imam-ul-Haq carried on and scored his maiden World Cup century but he got out hit wicket on the next delivery he faced. After Imam’s wicket, Pakistan lost a flurry of wickets. Mohammad Hafeez got out after getting a start. Sarfraz Ahmed got retired hurt by Imad Wasim’s shot. Imad continued to attack and helped Pakistan get past 300 in the penultimate over. He missed out on his half-century. Mustafizur Rahman got another five-wicket haul in World Cup 2019. As nine wickets fell, Sarfaraz came to bat on the last ball of the innings and took a single. Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bat first.

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Highlights:

Shaheen gets his sixth, and what a delivery that is. Bowled Mustafizur Rahman to bundle Bangladesh for 221.

NINE DOWN! After DRS, Mashrafe Mortaza walks back after being dismissed by Shadab Khan. All but over for the Tigers as they need 97 runs from 38 balls now. BAN are 219/9 after 43.4 overs.

Mortaza goes big

Mashrafe Mortaza, another veteran playing his last World Cup match, slams Shadab Khan for a monster six. There was a total of one six hit in the match before this. Mortaza has already hit two.
Wahab Riaz, Mashrafe Mortaza - they have given us so many World Cup memories. These last few moments of this match is their last contributions to the World Cup legacy they leave behind.

Fifth wicket for Shaheen

The Pakistan team converge around Shaheen Afridi as he takes another wicket. Bowls out Mahmudullah. Leaps into the air in celebration. Spectacular stuff. Shaheen Afridi is the youngest bowler to take a World Cup fifer! That is fast and right in the blockhole, nothing Mahmudullah could have done there. Shaheen steams in and bowls a corner of a yorker on middle. Mahmudullah fails to jam it out, the ball hits the boot and hits the stumps.

Fourth wicket for Shaheen

Shaheen Shah Afridi! Remember the name! Gets his fourth for the day as Shaifuddin offers an easy catch. His figures now 4/24 from 7.1 overs. He came into this World Cup very late, but what an impact he has had. Half century for Shaifuddin in the last game and a first-baller in this one.

Pakistan strike again! Mosaddek holes out in the deep in an effort to go for a big shot. Shadab gets the wicket, gets a pat on the back of his head from his skipper. This has been a proud performance by Pakistan. They've batted and bowled beautifully and barring those dropped catches, they've been good in the field too. 119 runs to get with a little more than 10 overs remaining. Looks like Pakistan will end their World Cup with a win.

Mahmudullah takes on Riaz

Mahmudullah looks to step up against Riaz. First manages to get a 149-kph thunderbolt into the fence. The next ball, he comes charging out, only to offer a catch to mid-off. And it's dropped. Very next over, Mahmudullah takes the aerial route against Shadab Khan. And yet again, the catch is dropped! Unbelievable luck. Can he make these missed chances count?

Amir-Riaz combo on the attack

Pakistan have gone back to Amir and Riaz with the ball. Just to think, neither of these two were in the provisional World Cup squad initially released by Pakistan. Amir, with 17 wickets, has been among the top wicket-takers of this World Cup, while Riaz has been doing what he does best. Has bowled his heart out today.

Great work by Shadab

A tremendous effort in the field by Shadab. Mosaddek had got in though. Batsmen were trying to sneak in a single and they just about managed to. Shadab runs in from point runs towards the ball, fields it and underarms it with a forward dive onto the stumps, he shatters the stumps then with his body as his momentum takes him ahead. An appeal follows and the umpire takes it upstairs.
Good running by Mosaddek and Mahmudullah, they are trying to get themselves set for a final push for victory perhaps.

Shakib is out

CAUGHT BEHIND! Shaheen Afridi bags his third, and this might be the most important of them all. Shakib Al Hasan walks after scoring 64 from 77 balls. Shakib ends this World Cup with 606 runs and 11 wickets! What an all-round performance from the legend!

Asking runrate's on the up

Mohammad Amir is back into the attack. While Bangladesh would be looking to pick up the pace, Sarfaraz Khan decides to bring in his best bowler and get more wickets to wrap the game up before the 50th over. Just 3 runs from the over. The required run-rate is at 8.89. BAN are 154/4 after 32 overs.

All eyes on Shakib now

Shakib Al Hasan carries on like the superhero he is, carrying the entire burden of his team now. Although Mahmudullah hit a brilliant four to Shadab Khan, on 57 from 68 balls,  Bangladesh would be looking to Shakib to guide the match into a Tigers' win. Bangladesh still need 1702runs from 120 balls. BAN are 144/4 after 30 overs.

Shaheen strikes again

What an impact! Shaheen Afridi is brought back into the attack and he repays the faith straightaway. The partnership which had started to flourish, has been cut short. It is a cross-seam ball and it is just behind a driving length. Das initially looks to drive but the ball comes off slow from the sruface. He looks to check his shot but it hits the bat and lobs towards cover where Sohail takes a dolly. Pakistan continue to hold the edge in the game.
Mahmudullah walks in at No.6.

Behind the keeper for four

Yet again, Shakib just gets a tickle onto the ball, but the tickle is enough to send it into the fence. Sarafaraz not very happy with how so many runs are being scored on his either side.
Liton Das seems to be following a more direct approach, he gets down on his knees and slams Shadab Khan for a four into the long on region. These two seem to be stepping up their scoring rates.

Fifty for Shakib

Shakib brings up his 47th fifty in ODIs, his fifth in this World Cup. He has also scored two centuries in this World Cup. In eight knocks in this World Cup, Shakib has crossed the 50-mark seven times. Only once did he fall short and that too by 9 runs. Only Australia managed to get him out for less than 50. He scored 41 against them.

Shakib nearing yet another fifty

Shakib is now on 44 and is looking to take his scoring rate up by a notch. Things could get interesting here onwards.
His scores in the World Cup before today - 75, 64, 121, 124*, 41, 51, 66.

Shadab Khan brought on

Spin from both ends now as Shadab Khan is brought on. Imad Wasim bowling an economical spell from the other end would have prompted this move. Shakib cuts Shadab for four. Ball took a heavy top edge before running past the keeper and then fine of the wicket for four runs.

Ban 86/3 after 20 overs

Wahab Riaz is bowling his heart out today. Consistently bowling above 140 kph. Litton and Shakib dealing mostly in singles at the moment. Liton plays a sweep very very fine that runs away for four off Imad Wasim. Welcome boundary.

Liton Das joins Shakib

Liton Das has joined Shakib in the middle. It's all down to Shakib's wicket now. Pakistan could wrap things up very quickly if they can pick his wicket.

Bowled him!

Wahab Riaz gets Mushfiqur to play a delivery on to his stumps. He goes for 16. Bangladesh lose their third wicket. 149 kilometres per hour! That pace would burn anyone. Rahim looks to guide it down to third man but there is not a lot of width on offer. He ends up getting an inside edge onto the stumps. Another budding stand comes to an end. 238 needed in 196 balls.

Imad Wasim introduced

Imad Wasim's hefty blows in the first innings had brought the match to life. Could he do some similar wonders with the ball? Two runs comes off the over.

Ban 73/2 after 15 overs

Shaheen Afridi has been the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan so far. His length has been perfect. Mushfiqur and Shakib, with years of experience between them, are countering him deftly. 143 kph delivery from Wahab Riaz right then. This is serious pace though. Pakistan are bowing out of this World Cup, but they are putting up their best show of left-arm pace before they bow out.

Ban 59/2 after 13 overs

Wahab Riaz is brought on for the first time today and is slammed for a four by Mushfiqur right away. Bangladesh are the only side to have chased a 250 target in this World Cup. Looks like they know the way to go about it.  Rahim just uses the pace of the bowler and guides it through cover-point. It is the shorter side so the man in the deep had no chance.

Shaheen bowls out Tamim

Tamim Iqbal's leg stump is rattled by Shaheen Afridi. A disappointing campaign for Tamim. How Bangladesh could have done with more runs from him. Mushfiqur walks out at No.4.

Shakib crosses Rohit

Shakib is now the leading run-getter of this World Cup. He has crossed Rohit Sharma, who was two runs ahead of him before this match. Could Rohit take back the top spot in the Sri Lanka match tomorrow?

Shaheen Afridi brought on

Shaheen Afridi replaces Hafeez. He's given a good display of himself in this World Cup. We may see much more of him in the coming years. As we may of Mohammad Hasnain as well, the other young pacer Pakistan have in their squad.

Shakib off to flier

Shakib is living up to the expectations off him. Hit Hafeez for a four in the last over, now times a ball from Amir into the gaps. It is on middle and it sits up to be hit. Shakib goes back and pulls it through mid-wicket for a boundary.

Shakib the new man in

Shakib Al Hasan, the man who has been brilliant with the bat so far, comes out. Needs to end the tournament on a high with another good knock here. Has been such a great No.3 in this World Cup. That's not a role many people would have predicted him to play not too long ago. Pakistan sticking to this new ball attack of Amir and Hafeez so far.

Sarkar is out

Brief but explosive innings from Soumya Sarkar comes to an end. Mohammad Amir gets another World Cup wicket to his name. Fakhar Zaman with a marvelous diving catch. Nothing great about this delivery. It is short and outside off, Sarkar goes after it. He does not keep it down though.

Soumya Sarkar goes big

Soumya Sarkar has entertained the crowd already. He has taken special liking for Hafeez. And wait a second, was that a Mankad attempt by Hafeez? Stopped abruptly before releasing the ball. Tamim had his bat safely in though.

Bangladesh 8/0 after 2 overs

And that is it! It's official! Pakistan are finally mathematically out of the race for the semis. Could be a load off their backs, given the scrutiny on them. We could be set up for a cracking contest between these two subcontinental rivals now.

Amir goes for runs

Six runs come off Amir's first two balls. Soumya Sarkar the man putting Pakistan's semifinal qualification chances to bed. And we have a missed catch by Haris Sohail off the third ball! Was an easy catch really. This is as Pakistan as you can get!

Ready for the chase

Players are out in the middle. Bangladesh are the only side to successfully chase a 250-plus target in this World Cup. We could have a cracking contest. Here we go! Hafeez to bowl the first over. Tamim and Soumya Sarkar are at the crease. Tamim is on strike. Hafeez starts off with a maiden over.

The equation here onwards

Just for the record, Pakistan need to bowl out Bangladesh for 7 runs or less to overhaul New Zealand's net run rate. More realistically, they need to defend 315 for victory.
Could we see another Shakib show today? What a tournament he has had. Surely one of the leading contenders for the Man of the Series award, even though his team is not in the semifinals.

Sarfraz Ahmed bats despite injury

Sarfraz Ahmed decides to face the last ball of the innings. He takes a single off the last ball, also the hat-trick ball for Mustafizur Rahman. Pakistan post 315/9 in first innings. Pakistan scored 85 runs in the last 10 overs and lost seven wickets.

Another five-wicket haul

Mustafizur Rahman gets back-to-back five-wicket hauls. Mohammad Amir departs trying to hit the short ball. PAK 314/9 in 49.5 overs

Mustafizur Rahman gets his fourth wicket of the day. Imad Wasim tried to hit a slower bouncer from Mustafizur but did not get enough on it. He departs for 43 runs from 26 deliveries. PAK - 314/8 in 49.4 overs

300 up for Pakistan

Imad Wasim gets Pakistan past the 300-mark in the penultimate over. He gets two boundaries from Saifuddin's last over of the innings, 13 runs from it. PAK - 308/7 in 49 overs

Mustafizur takes a blinder

Catches on follow through are always tough but Mustafizur Rahman may have pulled off the caught and bowled of the tournament here. He dives to his left and gets his hand underneath the ball just inches from the ground. Shadab Khan departs for 1, outfoxed by the slower ball. PAK - 289/7 in 47.1 overs
