On Sunday, India kept its World Cup record against arch rivals Pakistan intact by trouncing our beloved neighbours once more in the largest cricket show on the planet.
As expected the match was also a major social media event. So big that globally, 9 million people had 25 million Facebook interactions related to India’s win. In India, 5.9 million people had 16.9 interactions about the match, while in Pakistan 1.1 million people had 3.3 interactions. The match generated a total of 1,694,510 tweets.
On Facebook, the maximum interaction came from Virat Kohli’s post that he was “feeling awesome” and had the “best Sunday ever,” while the Indian Cricket Team’s video of fans going crazy in the stands also got a lot of reach.
On Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulating the team on its win was on top followed by tweets from BCCI and Shah Rukh Khan.
Congrats Team India. Well played. We are all very proud of you.
