Virat Kohli scoring a hundred in India’s chase is always good news, because he almost always leads his side to a win.
Before the Adelaide game, Kohli had scored seven hundreds while batting first. In what should be great news for Indian fans, the side has lost just once.
The only loss when Kohli scored a hundred while batting first came in 2011 when India was on tour in England. Kohli scored 107 at Cardiff in what was also Rahul Dravid’s final ODI match. But in a rain-affected match, England overhauled the reduced target of 241 in 32.2 overs.
But apart from this blip on the radar, Kohli’s other six hundreds while batting first have led India to a win.
Meanwhile, in what should give Indian fans further happiness, Pakistan have lost all the seven previous times they have had to chase at the Adelaide Oval. Incidentally, the last time India and Pakistan played at Adelaide, the Men in Blue led by Sachin Tendulkar led side won by 48 runs.
Here is a compilation of Pakistan’s previous outings at the Adelaide Oval

The previous stats reinforce what everyone has been maintaining about Pakistan’s recent ability to chase down targets. In fact, overall in Australia, the arch rivals have played each other seven times, with Pakistan winning four times and India thrice. So the Adelaide encounter on Sunday offers India an opportunity to be on level terms with Pakistan in Australia.
